Oregon man stung by scorpion on Alaska Air flight
Jeff Ellis of West Linn, Oregon (that's outside of Portland) was bitten by a scorpion on an Alaska Air flight from Seattle to Anchorage. He was taking a nap when he felt something tickling his arm. Thinking it was a spider, he tried brushing it off. He felt it on his elbow, grabbed the scorpion with a napkin, then tossed it into a clear plastic bag that his girlfriend had gotten from the flight attendant.
Alaska Air gave Jeff 4,000 frequent flier miles and two round-trip tickets.
My questions are:
1) Would you be satisfied with what Alaska Air offered if you had gotten stung mid-flight by a scorpion?
2) Has anything as strange as that ever happened to you or anyone you know on a flight?

I just read this story and was laughing - you really do not expect to see a scorpion on a plane let alone one in Alaska. I would be satisfied with what Jeff received. These days we are lucky that there are not more stow aways on the planes like this - it would have been easy for the cleaning crew to miss it. Look how many stories there are about folks getting a bunch of bananas home from the store and a tarantula or other spider comes crawling out!

The passenger in front of me died while making our initial approach into JFK from Dakar, Senegal. An EMT passenger worked on him as we landed and I searched his bag (as instructed by crew) for medications, etc. We all knew he was a goner when he was discovered in his seat.
He'd just been talking with the FA a few minutes earlier when the EMT noticed him slump. Poor guy guy never made it to his destination alive.
They declared him once he left the aircraft."wherever you go, there you are"

I'd be satisfied with this compensation from the airline. Then again, I used to live in San Antonio TX and over time, became accustomed to seeing a scorpion.
But also I think we've become a society that expects compensation for every thing that may go wrong when often, that's life!
Re: the strangest thing that happened to me on an airline, was many years ago, on a flight from Atlanta to Chicago. The plane lost pressure in the cabin and we had to use oxygen masks. The pressure on my eardrums was excruciating. And unlike the description in the safety briefing, there is no way you breath normally into the mask when that happens!
