Package Taxes & Service Charges

I was just wondering if anyone knows why some packages include the taxes and service charges and some do not...With some locations these added charges are quite high, and the inclusion of these fees in a package can really add up to substantial savings and vice versus if they are left out. Anyone know what the scoop is on this?

Hi CMDAVILACLI,

I talked to our packaging department about this and they said that it reallyboils down to the hotel and the location. Some hotels are just tougher aboutincluding the taxes in with the package. It also really depends on the countryand the various tax laws that may apply to that region.

We realize how much of a value this can add to a package, so you may havenoticed that if they are available, we have been trying to list the Taxes firstin the package inclusion list.

Thanks for your response. I kind of figured this was the case. Idefinitely look at each package to see if the taxes/charges are included because, as we all know, these added charges can really add up. On that note, sometimes people comment about the cost of an LL package not being such a great deal, but if you are looking at hotels that are charging $300+ per night and the taxes/charges can be anywhere from 15 - 20%, these charges are an additional $50+ per night. And if they are included in the LL package, it makes the package that much more attractive on a cost savings basis.
