01-29-2007, 05:24 AMPackages Offered for Auction More Than Once
Has anybody had the experience of seeing a package come up a second or even third time for auction (possibly because nobody had bid on it before), only to discover that the conditions are quite different even though the minimum bid, and nights duration has remained the same?
I have just come across this in relation to a trip at Fowey Hall in the UK for 3 nights - the blackout dates are quite extensive, one of the previously included "extras" is now truly an extra; and there appears to be a pricing structure dependent upon when the package is actually used. Previously, I had only ever seen different retail values depending on the season.

Hi bdsousa
Yes, I have already noticed something like this on another auction. I'm wondering if the trip to Fowey Hall in the UK is a newproperty. Sometimes it takes the resort a little time to figure out what the minimum price should be fora package, and what should be included.

Re: Packages Offered for Auction More Than Once
Hello,
I've seen a number of packages come up for some of the places in my favourites list where the opening prices were different. I agree with two2go that it's more likely to happen when a property is new and still figuring out what the starting price should be. Sometimes it also has to do with the time of year when they are valid (high season versus low season).
Cheers,
Julian

Thanks to both of you. I think Fowey Hall is new because I haven't seen it before. It's just a shame that I missed the first one because the latest offer is not as good value, and is much more restrictive because of the quantity of blackout dates, which was not the case before. Strange though, because the offers were only about 2 weeks apart.

Yes I've run accross this with a Canadian property - cathedral cabins in Lake Louise This property was available with the same perameters at different prices only one week apart. Yikes I wish I had bid sooner! Sometimes the difference is between an auction and a buy now price structure. Happy travels ...funtimes

The lesson I've learned is to bid on properties immediately. The offerings might repeat...or they might not. The package might be the same but I do not feel LL has promised any repeats to us. While the acutions change, I just try to bid early and often. Cheers...Marolyn
