playing the wedding card
I am planning on getting married in Venice in November, hoping to stay at casa segredo.
Just wondered if anyone had tips on how to use the "wedding card" to our best advantage
(i.e. getting upgrades/special deals).
Anyone got any handy tips?
Thanks in advance!

Snapyou--you're gonna do the deed?? Well, congratulations!!!
I assume you're looking at the panoramic suite? I've contacted them previously and I do know there is minimal view from that category. I see 100E difference/night for the waterview version--so I guess you'll want to ask if they will upgrade on arrival, pending availability.
I wouldn't count on anything but you can appeal to the sense of romance in every Venetian..."wherever you go, there you are"

Thanks,Kyshel !
We've decided we want a wedding really just for the two of us so the plan is to "sneak off " to Venice.
Now,we're trying to get the paper work done,so a lot to do in a short time(hoping to marry in mid Nov).
I emailled Ca Segredo yesterday but no reply .I also seem to remember them being pretty slow before when i was making enquiries.
(very frustrating)
Is there anyone from the LL staff/community that would have a bit more pulling power than me?

It could be film festival time, snapyou. I think that was Oct when we went in 07. Did you buy your pkg yet, or getting the timing set?

Not bought the package yet,kyshel.
We're planning on November so filmfest will be done and dusted(i remember going to see films in the open air when i was a student in Venice years ago).
We're hoping we can go just for the very end of the Biennale but this is dependent on Italian bureaucracy AND getting faster communication from Ca Segredo:STILL no reply to two emails sent yesterday morning.

I think it took us several days to get a reply. It was Sunday, after all. Maybe they take long weekends or just a bit too much prosecco??

snapyou, Venice in November? Too much rain and too cold to visit. Guess you're coming down from the UK and accustomed to that kind of weather.
Why not steal than package in Morocco and be assured of no rain?
Get your wife to be all dolled up in one of those hijabs and exchange your vows.

I was thinking the same thing!!! How romantic could that be---a camel ride into the sunset for a desert stay after the nuptials in Marrakech??

mountie,Morocco is the one country I've vowed never to return to:simply too much hassle on the streets.
As for November in Venice?Hey! we live n Scotland,it'll be sub tropical compared to here!
And we quite like the idea of having Venice to ourselves and getting lost at night in the fog,

Having been in Venice a couple of times in late November and early December, Ilook forward to slipping on my "wellies" and sloshing about the squares andbalancing onthe precarious planking:
