Prague Hotels
Anyone....stayed in any of the Prague hotels offered on LL? There are some inconsistent ratings on tripadvisor.com. Any first-hand information and suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Prague Hotels
yes--Hotel Hoffmeister. Our 2nd trip to prague--honeymoon and anniversary last year.
HH was excellent--pre-arranged to pay upgrade for 2 floor suite--it's the green one shown on site. Barely off-season (early April) so it was about $70 instead of $100 for the upgrade. Entry on one floor--upstairs to first floor, then up again...Well worth the $.
Gorgeousrooms--tiled bath/shower/dressing table (which has wrought iron swing for seat), heated tile floors in boths wc's (one/floor) wet bar/fridge top floor w/bedroom, internet(w/fee) 2 tv's, closet wardrobes/shelves, excellent bed linens. Dining space was lovely--flowers/chocolates each day--bottled water.
Dinner was superb--fine cusine--fab presentation and service. We spent equiv of about $200+. Tipped accordingly. Nice wines w dinner--could only eat 5 courses, tho..
Spa is fascinating--1/2 hrsteamwas sweet! We paid small extra for massage--very good service--had cellar to ourselves.
Great desk assistance. Breakfast was sumptuous-lovely buffet w/meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, yogs, and bubbly! As well as made to order eggs, bacon, etc. Waiters at BF gave great tips for buses/trams, shopping etc.
Hotel is at bottom of castle steps--easy access to nearly everywhere--trams down the hill 2 blocks. Very pretty garden by restaurant. Bought the transfers, too--good service.
Complete stay wasaround $1000 / 4 nights+usual extra for meals/drinks out.
Looking forward to trying other pkgs in future."wherever you go, there you are"

What a gorjus-looking place! That neighborhood is lovely. While that's a long walk from Charles Bridge, it's right thru one of the embassy districts. The best part is that it's a relatively flat walk. I used to think that all the streets in Prague were uphill. The fascinating thing about the city is that the things that are over the top, really are!

kyshel...upon your strong recommendation and detailed posting, we have just placed the winning bid for 4 nights at the HotelHoffmeister - Lily Wellness & Spa....and so you'll feel evenmore influential and persuasive(and know that we're making a small contribution to your husband's future retirement plan), we'll be enjoying Delta'snew BusinessElite non-stop service (wish they were offering the new flat beds instead of the recliners)from Atlanta to Prague.

OOOOH--I am so excited for you. Maybe we should have a secret signal and if I'm up there with y'all, we'll have a bubbly!! Make sure that crew takes good care of you--tell them Shel sent you!
When are you planning to go? The new ATL/PRG service starts early May--did you kow that's when the music festival is? I think it runs a few weeks. Anyway--you will love the Hoffmeister--make sure you have the Bohemian sekt with breakfast, if you're so inclined!! The sauna bath is really fun, too! Be prepared to feast on the included dinner--it's astonishing! The plates are fabulous ceramic and glass works of art and the food is superb.
I am so jealous.
And thank you for flying Delta!
If you can get the duplex honeymoon suite upgrade--it's worth the extra $. Spoil yourselves."wherever you go, there you are"

omegaet, I know you have mentioned in other postings that you are a vegetarian. I was in Prague last year with a couple of friends, one of whom is a vegetarian. She madeall of us go there to eat dinner one evening. The name of the placeis Country Life Vegetarian Restaurant [I had to call her last night to get the name because I certainly didn't remember it], and I recall the food was pretty good for vegetables. She said the front desk staff of your hotel will probably be able to get the exact location and telephone for you. Let me know if you go there. Thank you.omegaet wrote:

Re: Prague Hotels
I know you'll do just fine, but I was thinking the same thing about vegetarian food in Prague. Of course, there is always pasta, but it's kind of funny that the national dish is a sort of roast pork, ham, duck and dumplings plate with meat gravy! We actually had pizza and salads one day just because I didn't think I could walk another foot without sustenance! (don't shoot me, but it was good!) They have veggie soups but I have no idea if they use meat in the broth.
If you are dessert fans, the fruit dumplings are not to be missed--outstanding! called ovocne' knedliky--plum, apricot, strawberry--YUMMMM
If you eat fish the salmon apps are nice but the sardine ones didn't grab me.
There is a restaurant called House Nebozizek (halfway stop on the funicular--phone 53 79 05) that has the best view of the city. Please have a glass of wine for me!"wherever you go, there you are"

mountie & kyshel....your suggestions are greatly appreciated.....we have just received an email from aCzech resident we know who is recommending Lehka Hlava (translated - Clear Head) http://www.lehkahlava.cz/en_galerie.htmas the top vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Prague. We never seem to miss a meal (and generally, we more than satisfied with the options) when we are traveling here or abroad.
