Properties Affected by So. Cal. Fire Situation
As a Southern Cal. resident, the current wildfire situation is definitely top of mind and although I am not in any danger myself everyone here is keeping tabs on the fire situation across this part of the state. The fires in San Diego are most alarming as they have covered so much ground uncontained especially in some gorgeous touristed communities of Temecula, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Santa Fe, etc. There are a few LL properties that have been or are in danger in that area:
1) Temecula Creek Inn - looking at the map, this appears to be out of the immediate fire/evacuation area, but very close by and as far as I can tell this is the part of the fire that appears to be progressing (Northeast side) so they probably aren't yet out of danger.
2) La Costa Resort and Spa - the fire map shows this area to be evacuated although the La Costa web site says the resort is still open and operational. Although this was a primary danger area earlier in the fire, the fire appears to be progressing away from the coast at this point.
3) Rancho Bernardo Inn - Rancho Bernardo is a place that was hard hit by the fires although they don't appear to have harmed the Inn itself. I would imagine it is currently closed and evacuated but can't be positive.
4) Rancho Valencia Resort (one of my favorite So. Cal. resorts) - not quite sure if this is an LL property (it should be!) but it is located dangerously close to the fires and I would imagine that it too was or is evacuated.
The good news is that at this point (as far as I can tell by matching the fire maps with the addresses) all of the resorts are still intact. There is a ton of smoke and ash everywhere which makes Southern Cal. not the best place to be right now especially so close to the fires. It will be a couple weeks before all of the fires are contained and then I'm sure it will take a little longer to clean up, regroup and get these destinations up and running at full steam again. I'm just praying that they all make it out on the other end of these fires intact and undamaged as they are high on my future destination list!

It is so heartbreaking what is going on there. My heart goes out to all of the people, animals, homeowners and business owners that are affected by this devistating turn of events. I can't even imagine what they have gone through and are continuing to endure.
Hopefully you will remain safe and well as i hope that all of our community members are...
As for the properties, I have been to some of the ones that you've mentioned - they are some of the most beautiful places that hold some of my fondest memories and I pray also that they are spared.

This is certainly a very, very sad situation in South California. How anyone can start up these fires, I just don't understand. A natural disaster is hard enough, but no one asked for this. So sad. Our prays go out to everyone affected.

claasenam, I just returned home from two days of business in Long Beach and my eyes and throat are still very much irriated from the residual smoke and ash. I could not believe what the scene looked like when I departed LAX on a red-eye headed east over the raginging fire storms.
I feel badly for all of the residents of Southern California - especially for those who lost their homes and personal belongings. I don't think the long term negative impacts to the environments have begun to be measured,
Only a sinister and very disturbed individual(s) could re responsible for starting this kind of devistation.
I hope our friends staffing the luxury link offices in Los Angeles have faired well.

Yes Funtimes, unfortunately according to the news that seems to be the case...these fires in South California were set intentionally. How terrible is that? How could these people sleep at night?

I hope they're caught and prosecuted to the max. Anyone that would intentional start such fires has no conscience. It's really sad.

Hey members,
I know you all don't get to here from me often, but I do try to peek at the community occasionally.
With regard to some of our member properties, Luxury Link has received official word from Hotel Coronado, Rancho Bernardo, Surf & Sand, and Temecula Creek Inn that they are all definitely operational.
Questions or concerns?

Re: Properties Affected by So. Cal. Fire Situation
Hello,
I just returned from a business trip to San Diego, and I'm happy to report that there is much less effect from the fires than in LA -- the air was a bit hazy and smelled faintly smoky, but that was it. People are really pitching in and helping each other out which is great to see. My hotel was full of temporary evacuees and their pets (I've never seen so many dogs in a hotel lobby before -- and they were all very well behaved which was even more amazing).
Most of the evacuees who have homes to return to have done so, but many people remain homeless. The area has taken a big economic hit from the fires, not only due to the loss of homes and businesses but because visitors are staying away -- several conferences were cancelled (mine was one of only two which wasn't) and people are either cancelling their trips or leaving early. Tourism is a big portion of the economy in San Diego so this has had a knock-on effect on other businesses as well. However, while some attractions are closed most hotels and restaurants in downtown San Diego and along the coast are open for business. If your travel plans include San Diego, please go --it's still a beautiful area and the people there could use the support.
Cheers,
Julian
