05-19-2007, 02:47 PMReview of Inn at Eagle Mountain
Hi LL folks, I am spending a long weekend at the Inn at Eagle Mountain, and I thought I would give you a review while I was here. We arrived on Thursday. We flew into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, picked up our rental car and drove to the Inn. We always get the Hertz NeverLost system, and thank goodness we did. It took about 45 minutes to get to the Inn. Our room was ready and we checked in. Our room is 106; the Pow Wow Suite. You walk up a set of steps tothe room. Upon entering you are in the living room which is a nice size. The living room has a couch, chair and a coffee table. There is a tv and DVD/CD player in the room. You then walk thru a hallway into the bedroom. To the right of the hallway is the bathroom which is very nice. There is a separate sink and dressing room area from the bathroom proper. The bathroom has a big shower, sink, jacuzzi tub and the toilet. It is nicely tiled with a window that has blinds. The countertops are granite. The bedroom has a gas fireplace, a comfy chair, a desk area and a kingsize bed. There are three windows in the bedroom along with a sliding glass door that goes out onto a small terrace which contains a little table and chairs. There also is a sitting area with a cushion which is about five feet in length on which a kid could sleep. This room also contains a tv and DVD/CD player. The decor is what I would call PuebloIndian. The color schemeis beige with Indian print bedspread and cushions. The picturesare of Native Indians. There also is a coffee maker and a small refrigerator. The location of the Inn isnext to a golf course. Our room overlooks the golf course. My husband just told me that he was watching a golfer hithis ball into a sandtrap. From thesandtrap, the guy's golfball then went into the water. My husband thought he could golf with this guy. We went into Scottsdale on Thursday night to see the art galleries (Thegalleries stay open until 9:00 on Thursdays.) There are tons of galleries and restaurants. We ate at the Tortilla Factory. It was okay, but not great.I got the sea bass and my husband got the chicken salad. We both agreed the food was okay, but not great. The margaritas weredelicious however. We paid about $65.00 with each getting one margarita. We got up on Friday and drove to Sedona. We spend the day here. Like Scottsdale, there are tons of galleries. Very beautiful things. The red rocks are something to behold. We drove all around and then went up to Flagstaff on the scenic route. We went up to Oak Creek Canyon where we happened upon ten or twelve Native Indians who were selling jewelry and pottery. All of the items were beautiful, but one woman was what I would call an artist who works in silver and stones. I bought three necklaces with matching earrings. The prices were about one half of what was being asked in Sedona. We then went to Waldo's in Mesa for dinner. It is a barbecue restaurant. Oh boy, thefood was great. We paid about $45.00 including three beers. We left stuffed and very happy. Today we got up and ate breakfast at the Inn. It is a buffet with toast, bagels, eggs, bacon and sausage. It was okay, but nothing you would write home about. We then headed to Taliesan West for the tour which lasted two hours. It was enjoyable and well worth the time and money. It cost$20.00 each. We then headed to Inn-N-Out Burger for lunch. We seek this burger chain out whenever we are somewhere in the West. We love the food, and my husband has about twenty of their tee shirts which he wears all the time. We are back in our room, and I am drinking champagne. We are going to go to the pool in alittle bit. Tomorrow we are going to do the Hummer tour, and then chill out for our early Monday flight home. The Innis very nice. The LL rate is a good deal. The Inn gets my seal of approval.
