Solo Traveler Deals
Regents Silver Seas Cruises is offering low 10% single supplement charge for selected cruises.
Even better, Uniworld is DROPPING their single supplement charge for selected 2009 cruises if booked by Feb. 28.

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
Hi S. Thanks for the update. My father loves to travel but the single supplement is CRAZY! I will look into these two lines for his option. We had used Delta Queen (Majestic Cruises) and they had single rooms so the price wasn't as bad as single supplement but still extra. On the last cruise, because he was a repeat client, they upgraded him from his single room to a double room...very nice!

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
Bonnie,
I would check numerous places for your dad. Companies that were not offering solo discounts in the past are now hungry for customers and are making new offers.
Silver Seas solorates (as low as 10% on selected cruises) are not their only discount. They give up to 50% off additional if paid in full far in advance. I believe your dad could combine discounts. I also understand they are one of the companies with a Gentleman Hosts program on some of their cruises, so thatsingle women who want to eat or dance with someone can enjoy the companionship of a polite, polished gentleman. Your dad could travel for free!

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
I had a friend who was a Gentleman Host and he traveled for years for nearly nothing. He had an allowance, training, rules (of course) and a whole lot of fun!! He played cards and danced, and dined with the single woman and occasionally took them out on excursions. I didn't realize they still had them.

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
OK - so if being a "Gentleman Host" is not a good fit for him, then maybe this suggestion won't be his cup of tea either - lol. I was looking at a LL auction this AM for TheBodyHoliday @Castries, St. Lucia. They offer single rooms with no single supplement. The property looks so beautiful, I may just go by myself if my hubby can't get the time off! http://www.thebodyholiday.com/other/rooms.php
Just another idea for anyone wanting to travel alone and not break the bank!

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
Funny you mention this. The god mother of my husband's godchild, goes there every year by herself. She loves it! She especially enjoys it because it is OK to be a "single" at this property! She fills her days with tennis, golf, swimming, and snorkelling. She has made many friends and loves that it isn't the typical
"Singles" or "couples'" property!! Very interesting!

Overseas Adventure Travel has a 22 day Imperial China, Tibet, and Yangtze River tour. At the beginning of 2009, they dropped their $850 single supplement until January 31st. They have now extended that offer (no single supplement charge) for trips booked by March 31st. http://www.oattravel.com/gcc/general...ocation=single.
Just helping our single travelers stay on the road to fun.

Re: Solo Traveler Deals
I noticed while looking at LLvendor of Bill Peach Aircruising Australia / New Zealand that they have dropped their single supplements for selected 2009 trips.
Has anyone taken one of these trips in the past? If so, how was the experience?
