Suggest New Auction Locations
All Members, New & Old....wewant to continue tosuggest new and interesting auction locations to LuxuryLink....especially those"special" places you have personally visited. We have been active with LL formore thanfour years and really appreciate some of their interesting destinations wevisited through LL auctions. We tell everyone we meet on our trips tolook at theLL web site and hope to increase the consumer interest and participation. As LL Community Members, we can assist the expansion of this web site by sending in recommendations fornew properties we visit and help expose other members to our experiences.
Thanks,

Re: New Auction Locations
I agree with this post and want to echo the call for more Luxlife products, I've seen some great deals here on the site but there are only very few to choose from.

Re: New Auction Locations
f.y.i.....I have sent several potential locations to the staff at LL and have been told their representatives will try and make the appropriate contacts at these properties. I think anything you and other members of the LLcommunity can do to identifypotential properties for LL will be helpful to all of us.

Re: New Auction Locations
On the subject of new auction locations, I do hope L.L. will feature more of Dubai in the future. I know they have now started featuring Dubai and have one property in their portfolio but most hotels in Dubai are mostly 5 star(even 7 star) so there are plenty for L.L. to choose from. The property they are featuring is not one of the well known ones. I think they would get a great response if they featured one of the more popular ones. Imagine if they featured the Burj Al Arab. Now that would be worth bidding for! I wonder what price that would go for? All of those out there who have been looking for somewhere unique or for their honeymoon, I just would like you to check out the Al Maha Desert resort and Spa. There are not many resorts out there that can match this place for uniqueness. Everyone who visits this place is totally blown away. I have never felt so sad to leave anywhere likeI felt when we left Al Maha. Their website does not do it justice. It really has to be experienced to realise how such a wonderful place it is. I know it is notthat popular with U.S. citizens yet, but there have been a few Americans there the last couple of times we were there, so it is getting more popular with them. Dubai is one of those places that you are a little apprehensive about at first, but once you go, you cannot wait to return. It is my favourite holiday destination.

Re: New Auction Locations
One area of consideration for future locations for US & Canadian citizens is the weakness of the dollar against the Euro. I think this will continue to make Central and South America as well as Asia popular sites for residents of these countries.

Hi mary-j,
You seem to be the" resident expert" on Dubai. I think you mentioned somewhere on the Community board that you bought a place in Dubai. I wonder about the security question in Dubai and this part of the world in general - I know they are supposed to be our allies, but they also have produced the Ben Ladins of the world... so I think many Americans might be a little afraid to set foot into that area if they don't have to. I recognize, the pictures look beautiful, but I am not that brave, I prefer to stay where it is safe - if there is still such a place in this world today....

Re: New Auction Locations
Hi Omegaet,
You are right, the sharp rise of the Euro represents a hardship for US and Canadian travelers, but I do hope LL will be able to continue to attract new properties throughout Europe. I believe the European hotels are beginning to feel an excess of empty rooms with a lot of US and Canadian travelers abstaining. This is where LL with their negotiation power to attract some of the suffering high end properties comes in . Since the rates are payable in dollars for these properties, this is a good deal of US and Canadian LL customers. But as many US and Canadian travelers have seen Europe, they are ready to branch out to visit other areas where the prices are still low.

Re: New Auction Locations
Lhbrown and anyone else who is unsure about the safety in Dubai, You cannot be more wrong. Dubai is the SAFEST placeI know. Yes it is in the Middle East but there is no problems whatsoever there. Have you ever read anything about Dubai and any conflict there? If it was unsafe, then why would there be so many people going there on holiday and more important why would there be thousands and thousands of people buying property in Dubai, including lots of Americans. Many A-list celebrities have bought in Dubai, especially on "The Palm" and "The World", including Donald Trump who is opening a hotel on "the Palm". If you go on to "trip advisor" and go on to the Dubai Forum you will find discussions from people from all around the world who are frequent visitors to Dubai. Put it this way, I would not feel safe out alone at night in some places in the UK, but in Dubai, I would have no hesitation about going out alone in Dubai. The crime rate in Dubai is literally zero. There is no crime because the penalties are so severe. Honestly, ifI thought there was any likelihood of trouble in Dubai,i would never have invested my hard earned cash there. There are lots of Americans who feel the same as you, but there are some who are starting to go now, soI don't think it will be too long until they realise they have nothing to worry about and more and more U.S citizens choose to go to Dubai. If you go on to the forum I mentioned, you will see that some of the threads are from Americans who have either been or are going in the near future.Dubai is fast becoming the No. 1 holiday destination. As I said, it is my favourite destination. Personally there is no where quite like it for me.

Re: New Auction Locations
Hi omegaet
I too would like to see LL expand its scope when it comes to resorts and travel properties. It'd be great if the Auctions and Buy Now areas of the LL website were truly worlwide so that people could bid or buy vacations in all sorts of interesting and diverse places. As it is now, there are relatively few destinations available in Africa, Australia/New Zealand, and certain parts of Europe (e;g. Russia, the Baltics, and Scandinavia). Even Canada, which is within easy reach of most American travelers, and has a great wealth of fabulous resorts and travel destinations with excellent accomodations, seems strangely under-represented. I hardly ever see any places in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland featured on LL. How come?
