Do any of you use timeshares for any of your travel? I inherited one this year. I've been trying to learn the timeshare world but OMG! And it seems to take so much advance planning - WAY in advance.

we're making a great effort to get RID of a Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare for my husband's ex-wife. Just reduced the price, so maybe it will roll soon.
jmbklj, you inherited the the timeshare, as in it is now your week or you inherited it, as in you have the right to use the week this year?
Yes, it's now my week; ownership of a deeded week transferred to me in 2010. I used it a few times previously with a guest certificate & exchanged it for weeks in Spain, Portugal and South Africa. The home resort is in Hawaii, the big island.
kyshel, I know you like S Africa; maybe you could exchange it into a S Africa week (in the meantime). With the new RCI weeks system (using trading value points), the price of a S Africa exchange week is low. There are a few near Kruger & other parts of SA. Granted perhaps it's not an exclusive tented lodge but might be an inexpensive way to tack extra days onto a LL package.
It's definitely not a sellers market with timeshares. You have to practically give them away now. Look at how many are listed on Ebay for $1.
we want nothing to do with it except to sell it for the ex--her annual fees are too high compared to what we pay for far more perks in any LL pkg! It's not ours to sell--we are trying to get rid of it for HER <period> with the exception of the kids...haha
