K - I agree Lipton is terrible and that is all they seem to have in Latin America. I like Twinnings Irish, English & Orange Pek tea and also Barry's, PG tips and suprisingly Bromleys from the local Shop rite supermarket. Trader Joe's also makes a good Irish and British tea. Neve rtried the red or white teas - will have to give them a try!
Not much of an alcohol drinker so no suggestions on that front ;-)Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

I love all of your ideas. I never thought about bringing wine TO our destination. I thought we might do this for the Galapagos. Might think about carrying a bottle on the boat. (hopefully it is allowed!)

We arranged our transfer to one safari lodge that didn't include alcohol (despite the $$/nt) in advance. The driver took us to a local shopping center, so we loaded up a divided wine bag to bring to the lodge. Some countries have such high duty taxes, it just makes sense. Sadly, duty free shops are hardly what they used to be--everyhting is very high end and still overpriced.
But, we digress, as is often the case in the Lounge when we get excited about travel ideas! Too bad--we all learn even if we morph a thread!"wherever you go, there you are"

Got We Got It
We frequently take along a bottle or two of our favorite wine (even to wine growing areas) for a special dinner or maybe just to enjoy on a terrace or patio. This is the system we use to transit the cargo in our checked luggage:

We also browse in Duty Free when available on our return. If we find something of interest (got a great deal on Tequila in BZE the other day), then we use this to repack for our carry-on once we are aboard the plane.
So far, the product has not failed us!
