Re: Travelling with pets
I wanted to pass on to the pet lovers some information that I found. The Sheraton Wild Horse Pass and Resort in Phoenix allows guests to bring their pet pooches upt to 80 pounds! They also have a half-hour in room massage session for your pup! Isn't this great. I found this info in the USAir magazine. I am going to PHoenix in two weeks so will check it out. (By the way, the Wild Horse is a lovely property. They have tennis, pools, and even a little boat ride around the property. I have had the brunch there and it was very good. There is a casino also.)

Re: Travelling with pets
Reading your posts brought back memories - as a child when we would go away for a long weekend we would always drag our poor cat along. I remember she would YOWL the whole way to our destination (sometimes 3-4 hours nonstop). The we had this harness that my mother would would stuff her into and try to walk through the lobby in the most dignified manner possible. However she never quite got the hang of walking on aleash. Half the time one person would have to pull while someone else got behind her to gently nudge. Then after awhile of that invariably someone would have to pick her up and run to the room while she hissed and struggled.
Once in the room she would immediately hide under the bed, refusing to eat. Then when no one was looking she would ALWAYS pee in an open suitcase.
We never enjoyed ourselves because we were always too worried about the poor terrified cat under the bed!
No, when I travel now I have a pet sitter that comes and stays with my cats. We are all much happier.

Typically the weight restriction is about 20 pounds but generally the airlinessay that if the dog can fit comfortably in a carrier that can fit all the way under the seat (i.e. carry-on dimensions) then it is ok. No one ever weighs the dogs; it is just that the carrier has to fit completely under the seat. So if you have a tall or long dog who is skinny or light, she may not fit.clancyfox2 wrote:

Hi! This is a great thread...though I wish someone would tell me which places take cats! Unlike Syrene-1's cat, my cat Bastet loves to travel...she even likes just sitting in the car looking out the windows while I drive around. Whenever I take her anywhere people are always amazed by how calm she is.
So does anyone know some cat-friendly hotels?

Hi Moirasange. I think a lot of the airport hotels take cats. My brother travels alot from Maryland to Florida and they always use airport hotels because they can bring the cat. Typically these aren't the fanciest places but its great that you can travel with your pet. I think the Extended stay properties take the pets. You are lucky your cat likes to travel. Our cat, Kashka, just froze if we took her outside! She did not like change!

Hi Moira,
Yes, it's nice to have a cat that likes to travel! When I was younger I had a cat that also loved to travel around in cars and look out the windows.
Unfortunately my cat Diva is a bit more like Bonniejoy's cat -- even if the door is wide open she won't go outside, just sit on the sill and sniff the air a bit. If I go outside while I'm carrying her she clings to me and starts mewing. I think she may be a bit agoraphobic...
Cheers,
Julian
