Who is staying at all of these trendy hotels?
My family has used Hyatt hotels from time to time over the years, but today I received an email announcement regarding the expansion of their Andaz brand. We had stayed at the Hyatt in West Hollywood several years ago, when it was a Hyatt.
Now, I look at some of the pictures on the Andaz site I see mostly the same tired old hotel, with a cosmetic face lift, being passed off as something new.
More or less sounds like one of my girlfriends seeking eternal youth. It hasn't worked for her and I don't think it is working for many of these hotels.

Hey, kapper, I like your analogy.
Maybe you could post a photo (before and after would be good) of your girlfriend. I see one of them now and again out by our swimming pool in Key Largo. The face is pulled back nice and tight and the rest of the body looks like an ad for the California Prune Cooperative. Anyway, back to the hotel question. I kind of like those old ones redone.
Now that only counts with hotel and cars.

I'll pass on the photo of the girlfriend before and after.
Pesonally, I find some of the new trendy boutique type properties a pleasure. If they can retain much of the original charm and archetictural features, but include all the modern updates, I'll give a place a try. Of course, the rates have to be reasonable.

I enjoyed that LL package I bought for The Glenn in Atlanta. Old on the outside, but all nice and neat inside. So I guess I did and probably do like trendy, if the price is right.

One other reasons I am often attracted to these types of properties is simply their locations; many of which are right in the center of cities I enjoy.

Just noticed that Marriott acquired The Glenn Hotel in Atlanta. And to thing, only a few months back, I enjoyed a great weekend at The Gleen when it was offered here on LL.
