Denise--have you tried to find a local service to hire for outside excursion? You would think someone at TA has done it...Unless they prohibit that at Aqua!

Denise....we're corresponding with a tour company based in Managua, which has been highly recommended.....give us a few days and we'll let you know what we have learned. There are a number of companies based in Managua who offer a variety of excursion options.

I have been trying to find outside agencies to work with for tours in the Aqua area, however, most are based in San Juan del Sur or Managua and do not want to come to the El Gigante area which is about 2 hours from Managua and 1 hour from San Juan del Sur. Others on Trip Advisor have expressed the same frustration with finding services in the Aqua Wellness/El Gigante area. The good news is that the tiny town of El Gigante is about a 15 minute walk from Aqua and has 3 little eating places that are well reviewed on TA so I know we will visit this tiny town!
Aqua Wellness is truly in the middle of nowhere. We really wanted a rental car in this area but no one in SJdelS wants to deliver or pick up a car at Aqua saying it is too far.

Interesting, Denise, that you have chosen to visit a very remote destination. Sounds like you are pretty much going to have to adapt to what is there and not expect too much outside help. Be sure to post about your adventure.
