Isn't there a thread that mentions this topic? I guess I'm just so used to the discussion, since I'm very active in other forums. I've been scanned several times--ATL, CVG. Never overseas that I recall but I was "patted Up" by a Turkish Policewoman at IST.
I could care less how it's done, as long as it's effective as a safety measure."wherever you go, there you are"

I agree with Kyshel. We either put up with being patted down or searched or we don't fly. Personally, I would rather be patted down than scanned because of the possible radiation risks. At some point, everybody has to decide for him or herself whether enduring the security procedures, sitting on cramped planes, and putting up with crying babies and snoring rowmates is worth it.

Amusing contrast:
Conde Nast Traveler Mag survey shows 80% prefer scan to pat-downs
Budget Travel Mag seems to be heralding the opt-out concept for Nov 24.
If people don't want to fly that day--what a great idea--as long as they don't expect a refund.

I have not experienced the scans yet but am a bit concerned about the health issues. I also had a disc removed a few years ago and have a metal plate in its place - I always get concerned about how scans may affect this.

How about this for a new PA onboard your next flight:
"Please prepare for departure and crotch check, flight attendants, please prepare your drawers""wherever you go, there you are"

I never travel over any holiday period! I try and travel as much as I can during off peak travel times - less crowds, less scans and searches, better bargains
