TSA will remove those revealing scanners from airports
Personally, I'm thrilled to hear this news and I always opt out of them.

01-19-2013, 07:53 PMWell, for my part, I always got a thrill whenever I was able to go through one of those scanners. It just gave me such a liberated feeling. I'll miss them!

What will they do in the time period when they are getting replaced - everyone get pat downs? I hate the pat downs - a bit too intrusive for me. The whole TSA check point thing is just an illusion of security anyway and would never really catch any terrorists intent on bringing a plane down - where they really need heavy duty checking is in the area where checked baggage goes - this is the weak spot not checking every little kid and old lady going through the lines.
I can understand why so many people I know refuse to ever get on an airplane again - I would be the same if I did not have my love for travel and take flying as a necessary evil to get to my desired destination!Roam if you want to, roam around the world...........

They'll stay with the normal walk-thru scanners. And, of course, they'll still do some pat-downs. I don't care if I get a pat-down. They do it more frequently overseas (and much more invasive!)

Some are more invasive than others....and it is, what it is. What I don't understand is why they don't change their gloves after each passenger. I get the extra time and expense....but do I really want to be frisked and have someone check the inside of my pant waistline with gloves that have been used on hundreds, if not thousands of travelers from around the world?
Requesting this "service" has gotten me into quite a bit of trouble in the past. At Heathrow an agent who wanted to swab my pregnant wife's Cheesecake Factory cheesecake (that I was "smuggling" across the ocean) was offended when I suggested that he put on gloves. He didn't appreciate me asking him to change them again, after he had touched the outside of his glove with his other hand, immediately after he had scratched himself...
He ended up calling me a racist and started yelling at me. I insisted that race had nothing to do with it, and he said "leave before I start searching you further". I made an official complaint with the shift manager and suggested that the associates go through a course of hand washing and gloving before any other person is subdued to unsanitary methods of searching and all the drama that may follow.Ain't nothing gonna break my stride...
