Re: "Ugly Americans"
I guess the "shorts" are a dead giveaway?? I had the toughest time explaining to my husband's 13 yr old daughter that "we" don't wear shorts overseas, except in beach resorts.
So, she sneaked them in her luggage and then when she had nothing else to wear (but a small skirt) we had to give in (trust me, the ragged jeans looked worse...)
I think the woman in the front "scooter thing" needs to be walking more!!
Sneakers?? I can't even remember the last time I took sneakers to Europe!

Hi Kyshel,
I agree with you about shorts and sneakers... I think this is an American thing... I cannot imagine a 50 year old Japanese or French woman wearing shorts or sneakers down the Champs Elysees!
I too did not allow my children to bring shorts or even sport style shirts (IE: basketball jerseys) when we traveled to Europe. Those articles of clothing are fine for the beach or around our neighborhood. It is also amazing how much better we were treated when we dressed "up"! Better tables in restaurants, more locals willing to help us with directions, etc...I think it shows more of a sign of respect if one is "tastefully attired".

DUBLIN When nature calls at 30,000 feet, is $1.40 a wee price to pay? Or could it force passengers without correct change into a whole new kind of holding pattern?
The head of budget European airline Ryanair unleashed a flood of indignation and potty humor Friday when he suggested that future passengers might be obliged to insert a British pound coin for access to the lavatory to get some in-flight relief.
Airline chief Michael O'Leary suggested that installing pay toilets would lower ticket costs and make flying, somehow, easier for all:

Want to talk about some Ugly Americans! Well, last Friday, while preparing to check-infor a domestic flight, I witnessed a huge crowd of Ugly Air Travelers (many of whom may not have been passport carrying Americans). I've never hear so much bickering and complaining about extra fees for checked baggage, etc., etc. I guess this is what I have to look forward to for the next few years while airlines sort out fuel issues, reduce flights and calculate other ways to generate revenue for their bottom lines. I just have to remember to carry enough coins to begin using the pay toilets in coach!
Do you guys who fly first class or have attained premium status still get free use of the toilets?
