Re: United is charging $25.00 for a second checked bag
Going back to the original topic,I just found this little tidbit:
For every 1000 #'s of excess baggage (over the standard weight allowed/passenger) the operational cost of a three hour flight increases $16,000. Interesting perspective?"wherever you go, there you are"

of course, I am new to this community and my thoughts may not be welcomed. I think the airlines should start using the standard BMI index for all passengers and have everyone boarding a flight weigh in. Charge a per pound passenger overweight fee based upon the BMI. I think overweight passengers are a bigger problem that overweight bags; at least I am seeing more and more overweight passengers flying out of the airports and aboard the planes I use.

bamaboy....well let's see....you are new to our communitybut it appears you either have a great and somehwat cutting sense of humor or you are willing to face the wrath of a lot of passengers. This wouldqualify as and innovative revenue opportunity forboth domestic and foreign carriers.

Hi Bamaboy,
Welcome to the community. Yikes, can you imagine all of us having to get on the scale at the airports! Personally, I don't care what anyone weighs as long as they fit into their seats and don't take up half of mine. Question, do we get a discount if we are under the BMI for our height? (Okay, I confess, I'm not... but just thought I'd ask the question!)

bamaboy, you may be new in here but it looks like you are catching on fast. That's a great suggestion! I work out and watch what I eat, so I would probably qualify for one of the reduced fares using your approach. I was in a TSA line last week with a couple that would have had to paid first class fares for coach tickets under your revised rules. Keep those good ideas coming!

Hi BamaBoy. That is funny. On all of the little flights we take (Air Sunshine, Trans Anguilla, Nature Air, etc.), they always weigh you or ask your weight. I think that if you have worked real hard before your trip and LOST weight, you should be able to take more suitcases!
