United Taking Over Continental
Well, guess Continental finally gave in to the offer and is allowing United to take them over. Guess I better hope for the best outcome with all of my OnePass Miles. Could open up some new FF Miles travel opportunites.
Anyone else expected to be impacted? Can't be good news for many ofthe Continental employees.- Ω -

I have FF accounts with both Continental and United, so I guess I'm covered. I did read something about both airlines operating under their own logos, even after the merger/takeover. I never understand these things until they are completed and all of the dust settles.
I'm sure the respectiveunions will have their say in what happens, so we are months and months away from knowing all of the details.

Re: United Taking Over Continental
I really see no consumer advantages to this merger. The airlines top executives will making a financial killing and we, as the struggling public, will eventually be facing fewer flights and higher fares. Oh, don't worry about your miles, the programs will just increase their award levels and decrease their seat availability.

The United-Continental merger could be a tough sell yet. It must be approved and we have a different climate in Washington that doesn't like big business.

jmbklj, I'm better on a merger. Both airlines have enough lobbists in DCto put the support in their pocket. It's always about the money and influence. Welcome to the new United (Continental).

j-s-2, I agree - it will be approved in the end. As a FF who is living the NW DL merger, I've not been a happy customer since it happened.....fewer flight options, worse customer service, systems problems & significant devaluation of miles.

Well, well, well, just opened my mail and see Chase wants me to know that once the consolidation of Continental and United is complete, that I will still be able to use my credit card and gets FF miles for all of my purchases. Now I feel better. Maybe I'll go put some gas in my pick up truck.
