US Airways Charges for Water
Hi,
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.ga...8/08/usair.jpgLike every other airline in the country, US Airways is making cuts and adding charges. But the struggling carrier is going beyond charging for checked baggage and snacks. They are even going to charge you for water. So far that just means bottled water and soft drinks aren't free anymore.
The airline has already made drastic cuts. They removed movie screens from planes flying domestic routes, claiming that the extra weight added to fuel costs. Now, the pay-for-water scheme has passengers wondering what's next.
Sure, the no water thing can be easily remedied. Stop by the terminal convenience store or bring a bottle to fill up at a drinking fountain or (sigh) buy one from the flight attendant.
But, it's the principle.

Crazy. I was on hold yesterday fo 75 minutes...yes 75...I couldn't let go and I was getting crankier each minutes. Customer relations provided MINOR compensation for the problem they caused us. The rep was very quick with us and said...this is it, nothing more. Wow. What has happened to USAir? No customer service and no compassion.

Hi bonniejoy03,
I know you are somewhat stuck there where you are with US Airways as your major carrier. You sound rather frustrated. Let me repost the message I sent you a couple of days ago since you might not have seen it yet. I suggested, and still do, that you go/WRITE right to the top.
Hi bonniejoy,
Rather than calling USair customer relations tomorrow morning try to write to the President with copy to the Customer Relations Officer and document your case. State clearly what has happened and what you expect them to do for you. Tell them you have worked with Sue and others and the outcome is unsatisfactory. Go to the top and I am sure, they will look at your case and you may get satisfaction. At the link below, you will find all the US Air Officers names and bios. Hope this helps.

Hi LH. You haven't heard from me because I am SOOOOO beaten down! Usair gave us a small voucher with a sliding scale. Plus, you have to book with them on the phone so you have to pay a fee! I received the same voucher online but guess what...THEY SPELLED MY NAME WRONG even though all my info was entered correctly! I emailed back and the said...SORRY...and sent a corrected one. I have spent so much time dealing with all of this mess. Guess what I did....I booked with DELTA for my next trip. I have had enough and was pushed so much. I have no strength length. Yes, when I can get my strength back, I will send a letter to the President. I was told that there is NO compensation on their rerouting the plane. My problem not theirs...end of story.
Re: US Airways Charges for Water
I hope Delta welcomes you with open wings! Introduce yourself as a disgruntled USAirways customer--maybe they'll upgrade you like The Piranha's daughter!
I just scored a coup with the last of my Skymiles getting a business class RT from Japan to Bali for 30K each. I'm down to a few thousand left (WAAAHHH). I did have to pay a ticket fee because Delta doesn't have an online redemption agreement with Korean Air (just about every other partner!!) Getting the seats with only 2 calls was a thrill.
Good luck with the Pres of USAir--sic'em!
Re: US Airways Charges for Water
Thanks for reading my blog, Kyshel. For those who didn't read it, I wrote about a situation where I asked for something from an airline and got it. Anyway, in regards to this thread, I once had a problem on a United Airlines flight. My wife and I had preordered vegetarian meals well in advance, but they weren't on the plane and since we were sitting in the back of the plane and were two of the last people served, they had run out of one of the two dinners, giving us no choice in food. I called the airline after returning from my trip and a superviser told me that she would send me two $25 vouchers since two of us were involved in the problem. I wasn't thrilled with the offer, but at least United was making an effort to make me happy. Several days later, I received an envelope from United with two vouchers, but they weren't for $25 each. They were for $200 each! I just redeemed them and my daughter and I will be flying to L.A. and then driving to San Diego to look at colleges. Needless to say, I was very happy with United's solution to a minor problem. They truly went above and beyond.

Hi Kyshel. Thanks for the tips...Why are you using up your skymiles? Aren't you going to be accumulating them anymore? (isn't your husband a pilot for them?).
Lucky you for your next trip. When are you going? We are headed to Virgin Gorda at the end of the month for my birthday. Hoping for relaxation and quiet and great weather!
