Re: $500 Certificates
Yesterday, Sunday April 23, there was an extensive article in the New York Times Travel Section about the European discount air carriers. The reporter stated the Swiss carrier, flybaboo was the most professional and nicest of all the low price carriers he flew. Of course, he did not have such nice things to say about some of the other carriers---old aircraft, poorly maintained cabins----most of the horror stories you would expect. Some people are willing to save money as any cost---which includes putting their lives on the line with some of these carriers! The real question I have is just how much do you save when you have to fly into one of the second or third tier airports?

t-2-f...thanks for the "heads-up" on the New York Times article pertaining to European budget airlines:

I hope the writer is correct regarding flybaboo, since we are scheduled to fly with them in July. The writer was a bit harsh on RyanAir and Jet4you...maybe true and maybe not!
The link to http://www.flylc.com/directall-en.aspis helpful as well.- Ω -

I hope the moderators can float these good postings on LCC's to another place--it's very difficult to recall where to locate them later. Particularly since many people won't haunt this section if they aren't VIPs.
Loved the story in NYT--what did that guy expect when he started with flyaboo? talk about "crash and burn in the service zone"!! Maybe I should do less crossword solving and more travel reading (I missed that week!) Thanks."wherever you go, there you are"

Re: $500 Certificates
kyschel...both easyJet and flybaboo were a dreamto book on the Internet (actually easier than most of my bookings with domestic carriers here in the US)....the easyJet http://www.easyjet.com/en/book/index.asp from Prague to Geneva was less than $50US @pax and flybaboohttp://www.flybaboo.com/from Geneva to Venicewas $43 @pax. Our friend who turned us on to flybaboo says their Dash-8 Turo-props fly at a "sightseeing" altitude....making the short jump to Venice fun!

Re: Use of $500 Certificates/Low Cost Air Carriers
We just completed a trip to Thailand using my first GC. Last quarter's GC was spent in a wink--on Ariau Towers, Brasil. I already have my eye on a Bali package for fall. We'll try at least one long-distance trip/year. I certainly hope that LL continues the award program.
