WELCOME NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS
I noticed that there are several new Luxury Link community members and I would like to welcome them to our on-line community. I joined the community last year and I was initially very intimidated by the bidding and buying process. After purchasing my first package, I wrote about it in my blog, "Swimming with the Fish." I got a lot of positive feedback about my post, so you may want to read it before you attempt to purchase your first Luxury Link package.
We use this community message board to post travel tips and seek advice about destinations. Feel free to add to the discussion. The more people who are involved with the message board, the better.
Enjoy your travels!

I'm quite new-I found LL through the New York Times article in 2008 (I think it was November). I have to say, I was absolutely shocked by the prices and fabulous properties included-I travel frequently for business and often have the opportunity to add a few days personal time on one end of my trip-so far, its hard to decide where to start and with what kind of hotel!

Welcome to Luxury Link, ashleysings. I found LL a few months before you did and had the same reaction. It's a great website with a great product. If you haven't purchased any packages yet, I encourage you to check out my blog, "Swimming with the Fish" to read about my first buying experience. A lot of new visitors to the site have a lot of unnecessary trepidation and I spell out what was involved in my first purchase. You probably have the same feelings that I did.

piranha-
where can I find your blog? Is the post indexed within the boards here or is it an outside blog? What did you book for your first package?

Ashley (I assume that's your name), put your cursor on "COMMUNITY" at the top of the page. Under the drop-down bar, click on "Travel Blogs." The blogs are on the left side of the page and mine is called "Swimming with the Fish." The second blog is about my first experience buying a package from Luxury Link. Feel free to read the rest of my blogs if you have time and you don't find them too boring. Have fun reading and have fun buying your first package.

Thanks! I'm trying to figure out where to go first! The quickest option would be to take an extended weekend in the upper valley (Vermont, NH), the Shaw Club at Niagara, or a plantation b and b in southeast Louisiana..........but I just can't decide!

Yes-exactly where you said they would be! It was great to read about your trip-like with other travel sites I've used, I'm frequently a bit hesitant about my first purchase, especially when it looks to good to be true (similar to a particular promotion that occured this past fall where a website was not vetted for significant increases in traffic and the promo didn't really happen). One of the main differences here is the Luxury Link community-being able to be in touch with people who use the website directly is really great.

Re: WELCOME NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS
I think you're talking about the Leading Hotels of the World promotion. Their website couldn't handle all of the traffic, so they postponed the sale and only those who had registered for the initial sale were allowed to participate. By my calculations, only one or two percent of the people who registered were able to get a room at the sale rate. There were a lot of frustrated people who weren't able to get rooms, including many Luxury Link community members. Luxury Link doesn't operate that way. Please keep us posted if you buy a package. Community members are always looking for recommendations on packages.Message Edited by thepiranha on 01-19-2009 02:30 PM

Yes-I just didn't want to mention them by name. It was unfortunate that even in the multiple tries, the website was never fully fixed for the traffic problem!
I've tried to find where its posted that kudos dictate VIP status-I'm a bit confused about that-isn't it based on participation in the web community as well? From what I've read it looks like there have been some recent changes-maybe I just haven't read all I need to yet!
