What About Your Holidays Travel?
Interesting to notice the differences in holiday travel (or not travel) patterns.
Have your tendencies changed over the years (assuming some members of the community have progressed more in the maturation process than others)?- Ω -

Holiday family get-togethers were always held in our home. After tallying up the expense and work of having everyone over, we have decided to do one of two things during the holidays: sneak in a quick vacation away from everyone or be guests at someone else's party, bringing a generous two dishes to pass rather than the requested one.
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride...

I'm in Honolulu sitting on the 26th flooor balcony of our Ala Moana hotel. Thinking about going to Don Quijote (local department store) for some goodies to take home...
Also thinking about how I'll get home on standby tonight. I give myself two days (max) of full flights before I buy a ticket to get to the west coast. We don't usually travel on holidays but this was a special 3 day trip.
Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving!"wherever you go, there you are"

11-24-2012, 11:30 AMI used to get together with family. However, after five marriages to three different women, and all the confusion that went along with those years, I pretty much just pack a few things and leave the cold and overcast days behind and seek out warmer places with sunshine.
Thanksgiving down here in Key Largo was laid back as usual. Haven't made plans for the Christmas holidays, but I'm think warm is a good thing.
btw, kyshel do you find all of that flying you do has an adverse effects on your skin? I get dry and itchy skin after only 3 or 4 hours of flying.
btw, omegaet, you are being very PC with the use of "holiday" and "maturation". I still say Christmas and old.Last edited by Mountie; 11-24-2012 at 11:35 AM.

11-24-2012, 02:07 PMGuess I am a traditionalist.
I tend to gather, at least for a meal, with family and close friends during the winter holidays. I can't recall ever leaving the country during this specific time frame, or at least on the actual holiday.
Possibly, as I age, I might celebrate differently. But for now, I'll just stick around with family and close friends.
I do admit to enjoying the frenzy of holiday shopping.

How was the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu? Any recommendations of specific rooms, upgrades or perks? We are going to stay there in January.

11-25-2012, 06:43 AMAlso, the eternal child in me tries to make it back to Disney World/Epcot during late November or early December.
Why? Well, there are few places, if any, that really do the Christmas season better.

I couldn't agree more with you as Christmas at Disney World is concerned. It really does put you in the mood for Christmas, even for people without children..... It does bring out the child in all of us.
