What is the best deal you have gotten on LuxuryLink?
Some packages seem to offer better value than others. Some are just a few hundred $ different that rack rates, while others seems to offer savings in the thousands. What is the best deal you've gotten on LuxuryLink? You know, the one you like to brag about to your friends....

cruisinred..."best deal"....depends on what "best" means to you. The "best deal" we bought at auction on LL was offered about three or four years ago www.kapawi.com. Over the years, this trip has become "priceless" to us in terms of the experience! We now realize the environment, in which the lodge is situated, is so endangered and at risk for loss forever.
After returning home, we managed to locate an old issue of National Geographic andlearned moreabout the early encounters of the first Europeans with the Achuar(a term they use for all foreigners) and the history and conflicts (that's when we found out they were amongthe last headhunters in South America).
LL doesn't offer this destination and we're glad we seized the buying opportunity when we did.- Ω -

The "Best" to me includes the most goodies in a package. For example, we are fortunate to have gotten a property on LL for 5 nights, breakfasts, two spa treatments each and one glorious dinner. Now I notice it is listed but goodies have been reduced. I feel fortunate to have gotten the trip when I did. Has anyone else experienced this? Cheers...Marolyn

marolyn..over the years, it seems the initial offerings by new destinations are the "best" in terms of "price" and "extras." Several of the properties which we bought in earlier auctions have now increased in price, reduced or eliminatedtheir extras or in a couple of cases, totally dropped off the radar. If we see something we like and the price is right, we "buy" rather than "wait."

Re: What is the best deal you have gotten on LuxuryLink?
My first LL auction was by far the best deal. It was a best shot for a SeaDream cruise for 2. I got it for much less than I bid. All 5packagesgo forthe same amount - the lowest of the top 5 bids. I didn't want to brag, but the low bidder was also on the same cruise and he started talking about little he paid! We had a good laugh and I thanked him for his low bid.

I also agree with O's comment. Sometimes properties are offered when they're new or changing hands (as was the case with SeaDream). Better to jump rightin if you see something of interest.

I agree with you regarding the necessity to grab a good deal on LL when you see it, particularly if it is the first time it is being offered on LL. About 2 years ago, I recall seeing a great auction deal for a cruise/private yachtin Bora Bora. This was the company- www.boraboracruises.com/....I think the cruise was only at auction for 2 or 3 times. I always regetted not bidding as I have never seen it offered again.
I wonder, do some companies/hotels try selling their property on LL once or twice, aren't pleased with the intial results and then never offer their property again?

Re: What is the best deal you have gotten on LuxuryLink?
My best LL deal was my first LL purchase and was on a brand new property - the Snake River Lodge in Jackson Hole, WY. The package was essentially what is available now - a luxury room, breakfast each morning, spa treatments, a dinner at the restaurant but the price was significantly less than now. We were upgraded to a junior suite, had much of the hotel and spa to ourselves, were treated like royalty by the fairly new employees and had a marvelous time. I'm almost embarassed by how little we paid, but we will definitely return to the hotel the next time we're in Jackson Hole.

Hello community - reading through this thread makes me question Do most prefer Dutch auctions to single auctions? We've only bid on single auctions and often with a heated ending raising the stakes at the last minute. I thought Dutch auctions went for the top auction price - now I see they must go for the lowest auction price Does anyone lowball in the hopes of winning? Please enlighten me on dutch auctions...Funtimes

Re: What is the best deal you have gotten on LuxuryLink?
funtimes...LL states the following regarding Dutch Auctions:
At the auction close, all winning bidders will pay the same price, which is the lowest successful bid.
Example: Dutch Auction ABC has 2 packages available. At the end of the auction period, 30 bids have been submitted. The top 2 bids are $2000 and $1900; the 2 winners each pay just $1900. All winning bidders will pay the same price, which may be equal to or less than your highest bid at the close of the auction, but never more!- Ω -
