-O-, shopping for "supplies" - just make that mostly the local beer and a few bottles of water.
And let me reaffirm, will not pay $1,000, $500 or even $400 to stay at the Sanctuary Lodge, when I finally get to Peru!

Of course the little folds on the TP don't help much when the TP is like sandpaper which I have experienced in a few lux hotels ;-)
Soft sheets are a plus except when the bed is as hard as a rock which I have also experienced lux hotels - and I am not talking extra firm mattress here but literally like lying on a hard slab - a mattress with no cushioning makes for little sleep! One place I stayed in recently had mattresses so hard that I took the big cushion from the lounge on the balcony and put it on the bed to make it softer - they had such soft sheets and amazing blankets but the hardness of the mattress negated all that softness from the covers!
Amen to the tissue issue and those hard beds (most I've had were in Mex).
I found it interesting that some premium Eu hotels have softer/better tissue in the lobby toidys than the rooms/suites!!
Re--Eu better hotels:
Ok--I STILL don't get this: what's with the HALF glass shower wall?? Water water everywhere...

Maybe it is just me, but I can't used to those old fashion bath tubs that have been retro fitted with the handheld shower heads. I usually end sitting in the tub and trying to apply soap or shower gel with one hand while holding the shower head in my other hand. It is all about technique.
