Hi Mary. We have had bad weather so spending time running errands in the break in the snow/ice. Also, running to the airport to try to schedule airfare with vouchers we received. Gosh, it is getting so difficult to book award travel and travel using vouchers. The USAir counter at our small airport was very accommodating yesterday but it still took over an hour to process! The good news is we are booked for our Sept trip into San Juan. Yeah. We will then book with Air Sunshine into Virgin Gorda. I really needed to book this in order to give me some hope! (This weather is so cold, I needed to know that I would be warm again soon!). I hope to have a trip report after our March trip to Arizona. Hoping to go to a Cactus League Baseball game, maybe Sedona, and some great restaurants. Keep on writing!
sorry to hear about your bad weather. You must be looking forward to getting away to some warmer climate!! Usually at this time of the year here in Scotland we can get a lot of snow too but fortunately this year it is really mild and e have only had one day of snow so far. It is raining most days so it is always grey and horrid, soI cannot wait to go to our holiday in Thailand where I will see some sunshine at last. 6 weeks and counting. Have a lovely time in Arizona.:)
Hi Mary-j
Nice to hear from you! You are right LL Community has not been very busy lately, despite there being quite a few new members joining. I guess there are periods were we have less time to go online, and just get caught up with work and family. Actually, two week-ends ago we took a few days in Old Quebec City, stayed at Auberge Saint Antoine. We needed a rest, and since it is only a 2 1/2 hour drive, it fit the bill. Wow, what a restful week-end, and the food at the restaurant was amazing. Talk to you soon,

If you are going to spam us, maybe you should at least research the appropriate place to do so first. I mean, come on! There's even a lovely Sedona-based thread going on in the Western US category. Please go away, spammers!
I'm brand new to this site...found on a google search.
We are trying to decide on a hotel in New York in October,
over a long weekend.....we like the upper East side or the Central
Park area but the hotels are yikes expensive! Any ideas how we
can get a rate reduction at the Lowell? failing that, we have narrowed
our choices down to the Giraffe or the Library. Our budget is about
$550 tops per night.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Thanks,
Laurel
Hi Laurel
If I may make a suggestion...Make a reservation at a hotel that has a good cancellation policy. Then keep your eyes open for the LL auctions for New York. The packages for the dates you need don't seem to be out yet, so check regularly. I always try to vacation using LL, because their packages are unbelieveable.

Laurel I would consider the Library first because of its location. The Giraffe is on the south side of Park Avenue and is not that accessible if you don't mind using the subway. You will be more accessible to the Upper East side and the other parts of the city that you mentioned! They are both great hotels though! Hope this helps;)
thank you - very good advice!
I'll book the Library and see if something comes up on an auction.
thank you!
