Denise...the beautiful part of this community is we can share our perspectives with regards to travel and travel related matters. Your comments were not pessimistic. You expressed your opinion(s).Quote:
What's wrong with getting the most value for your dollar?
We find the concept very appealing and we constantly search for value and luxury, which is one of the draws of Central and South America (as well as proximity).
Dollar costs $1.26 per Euro. Still 26% higher, but better than it was in Nov./Dec. 2011. I don't think we will see parity in 2012.
While the Euro seems high, if you know where to go locally, you can still reap some good benefits.
Here's an article that about the euro zone's current economic turmoil, the value of the euro and it addresses how it may impact travelers from North America, looking at a few different scenarios. I agree with the writer that decisions by tourists whether to travel to a specific country or not, are affected more by what happens in the streets (think Mexico or Greece) than what happens in the banks.

I, for one, am pleased to see the movemenet of the dollar against the euro. Push. Push. Push
I second J....Heading to Greece in May. (unless of course they aren't using the euro by then....only kidding....no comments please!)
bonniejoy,
Don't expect prices at rock bottom in Greece. They will take every cent they can get.
I'm going to Athens in 2 wks. Short trip but long enough to spend some cash on great food!
