Where will the Euro vs Dollar move in 2012?
Our last trip to Europe was in June 2010, when we enjoyed an exchange rate of €.80 to $1.00, since that time we have watched the value of the dollar decline against the Euro. During the past six month we have observed an more favorable exchange rate for the dollar vs the Euro. Although there are a number of destinations in the EU which hold interest to us, we see no reason to experience a devalued currency exchange as a penalty to visit.
What are your opinions regarding the stability or instability of the Euro during the next twelve months? Is this the year to travel in EU countries or not?- Ω -

Yes...it is the year to travel to EU countries. I have started to pay for my Greece hotels and have watched the exchange become my favorable to me each day. Currency values around the world will continue to fluctuate into 2012. Trying to maintain economic stability in Europe will cause the US Dollar to hold some value...enjoy now before this trend turns!

01-01-2012, 07:23 AMI hope the dollar continues to bash the Euro during 2012. I, for one, and sick and tired of the inflated cost of travel to Europe and the financial games being played by the EU to to prop up all of their weak sister alliances.

My feeling is that the Euro will stabilize around the 1.25 to 1.30 range. It would be nice if the US Dollar would gain more strength against the Euro, but I don't think parity is in the cards in 2012, despite all the financial troubles the Euro countries are going through at the moment.

I don't think the party will last long - as long as the USA has a huge debt and we owe so much to other countries - I am pessimistic about the future - the USA is in for a rude awakening in the near future. I am still planning on doing as much travel as I can afford as long as I can since I don't think I will when I retire.

01-02-2012, 07:14 AMWell, [email protected], I'm somewhat more optimistic about the future, at least my own future. I think the EU was a miscast socialistic concept and continues to totter (forgive for what might sound like a political comment in our most PC community).
As long as the printing presses continue roll, there will be money flowing in the US. As long as that happens and politicians need my vote, I will find a way to enjoy the good life and buy great travel deals here at Luxury Link.
I love Europe and would love to spend more time there and hope and pray for a melt down in the Euro. The sooner, the better!

This is a rather fruitless exercise since even the experts have no idea which way the dollar is going in terms of the euro. That being said, there are a lot of places around the world to me that are far more attractive than Europe at this time, especially when you consider the unfavorable exchange rate. Southeast Asia and most of South America are far more affordable and, for me, far more alluring than Europe, even though I've been there several times.
