World's Best-"shopping"

I had a look at L.L.'s World's Best-shopping and was surprised to see Dubai not listed. Dubaishoulddefinately be rated amongst the World's best and would definately say it is much better than many of those listed.It has numerous large world-class shopping malls including the newly opened Mall of The Emirates but also more affordable shops and of course thetraditional souks, especially the infamous Gold Souk. From cut-price stores to most of the top designers shops, Dubai should be up there with the top five. And of course, Dubai Airport is an amazing place to shop and Dubai Duty Free are always giving away exotic luxury cars in their draws at the airport. You also have the Dubai Shopping Festival which not only has amazing bargains, but has competitions, games, fireworks and everything for the whole family to enjoy. This is a major event every year in Dubai. Even some of the top designer stores have discounts of up to 75%.

I would imagine Dubai's shopping should be listed among the if not as the world's best. It seems to have the same offering of luxury lines you seem to find in most major upscale cities these days (Gucci, Hermes, Vuitton, Prada, etc.) and other luxury offerings plus the local array of rugs, fabrics, jewelry and home items that are so appealing. Dubai in fact seems to celebrate the act of shopping more than any other country, with its fairs and events. I'd also nominate India for this award. The shopping there absolutely blew me away! It does not have the luxury chain stores you see everywhere, but there is a wealth of amazing fabrics, rugs, paintings, jewelry, home items, papers, etc. the list can go on and on. And the prices are incredible. I purchased a lovely gemstone necklace in Jaipur that was appraised in the US for twice the original price. The handiwork of all the items is amazing. I highly recommend a shopping trip to India.

I just returned from a business trip to Las Vegas and was stunned by the shopping alternatives that have been added since my last trip. The Belaggio and Wynne have exceptional shoppoing malls with most, if not all, luxury labels represented. Since I did not hit the jackpot, I did not make any major purchase...just window shopped with the best. Cheers...Marolyn
