It seems like many hotels are adding on these little fees to make an extra buck - I saw the 10% "resort" fee for the Inn at Perry Cabin and was suprised since it really does not seem like a typical resort to me and I have not seen other OE properties with this fee - I wonder it the fees are coming to other OE properties!

I agree D. I called The Inn and asked what it included. They said it was new and it would include their daily activities. They have an event listing. For example, one thing was a kayak group trip. I told them I come off season and it wouldn't be of interest to me. They were very kind and said they could work with me. I still think this was SO high. 10% of the regular price!! WOW! I wonder also if it is coming to the industry!!!

A fee for a kayak group trip - do you still have to pay to rent the kayaks or pay for the trip on top of the 10% fee? What if like you, someone goes in the spring, fall or winter - did they "work" with you and not charge the 10% fee? I was looking to do this package in the future but maybe now I will not since we do not usually do things like "group kayak trips" ;-)

Hi D. They were so kind on the phone. They said they are working things out. It is still a high fee. 10% of the regular package price!!!!! I couldn't find any amenities that made up for that fee. (I even asked if that included the $100 pet fee and they said no!) I had so many great times there. We do hope they reconsider this fee for the future so we can visit again in the fall.

06-12-2012, 06:59 AMIt is so frustrating to have hotels and resorts adding fees without completely disclosing or making these fees optional, especially if, as a guest, you do not avail yourself of the service. I am not shy about complaining and demanding a credit in such cases.

I can not believe the 10% fee does not even cover the $100 pet charge! I do admit that saying it covers "group kayak trip" is creative - usually they say these fees cover things like the swimming pool, maintaining the spa, golf course, etc. I agree with Kapper - it is so annoying to have to pay the fee when you do not even use the things the fees cover. So far I have managed to stay away from any packages that indicate there is an extra fee payable at the resort, I hope this does not become the norm in the near future!

D...I agree!!! And...this is 10% of the retail package!!! (whether you purchase with LL or directly book with the hotel.) That can be HUGE if the hotel's prices are high. YUCK!

06-13-2012, 04:09 AMI stayed at three different O-E properties in Peru and there we no extra fees tacked on to my bill.
Complain, always complain about fees anytime a hotel or resort tries to slip them past you.

I have had a few experience where hotels try to add on fees and I always make talk to them in a pleasant manner - most do try and work with you, however, there are always a few where you have to really negotiate or don't want to work with you at all - I have had a few of these and I will never stay in those hotels again.
