Although I love to travel in different parts of the world, I am part of a market segment of parents...With two young kids in the house, sometimes a regional long weekend getaway is more realistic and appealing. We live in theAtlanta area and there are some fabulous escapes that are well within reach.Featuring these types of regional getways from large metro areas may be appealing to others as well?
We enjoy traveling to the mountains of Western North Carolina, within 2 hours of Atlanta. Highlands, NC is a small, upscale mountain village that is popular with Atlanta travelers looking to beat the heat. The Inn at Fire Mountain, Olde Edwards Inn and Spa, and the Inn at Half Mile Farm are all unique accomodations offering luxury services and amenities that are unique and desirable.
I'd also love to see more packages in the Savnannah area, or at the Lodge at Little St. Simon's Island. Cheers
I absolutely am in full agreement! I have posted in the past some suggestions to LL on this forum, but I like the way you describe it here is perfect - i.e. as a Regional Weekend Getaway from urbana. I would add if LL could - as a course of planning - include in these types of packages something of local interest in the packages that would be very enticing! For the CA options, there is always a nice winery tour but those of us on the East coast are a bit left out despite that there must surely be some wonderful bed and breakfasts. In the greater New York area, perhaps visits to places of local interest, some outdoor activity, horseback riding, spa etc would be interesting. If it's between 1 to 3 hours out of the city, that would be an ideal respite from city polution.
