Spa credit rather than specifc treatments (a general suggestion for all properties)
Hello,
This isn't a property suggestion per se but this seems like the best place to post it. I'd like to recommend that LL suggest that properties offer $XXX in spa credit rather than 'massages for two'. It will not only provide everyone with more flexibility (e.g. you could choose a facial instead of a massage) but will also make things more equitable for couples where only one person is interested in the spa AND especially for solo travellers.
It could also be profitable for the properties as people might be willing to 'apply' their credit towards a more expensive treatment package rather than just taking the free treament (this has certainly happened every time I've given my girlfriend a spa certificate...)
Cheers,
Julian

The pre-determined credit $ is a good idea--no confusion about which massage/facial etc. I do see more of those spa $ limits posted in the terms of LL auctions. I agree that many LL customers are spa-saavy and would likely spend more than a set treatment.
In some cases, like Prague's Hotel Hoffmeister, as part of the package they offer a unique 30 min stone bath treatment (which would be almost impossible to NOT take, it's that unusual!). It's an integral part of the property so it's a sort of "attraction", and that may be an exception. We took advantage of the included stone bath and added the massages to follow. I believe Omegaet did the same.
I recently contacted a property about dropping one night of long pkg and they offered 2-90 minute spas or an extra dinner pp as substitute. Not exactly equitable in dollar terms, but satisfactory when time is an issue. I would be happy with that kind of exchange, but you still have to arrange it. When there's flexibility--great. Not so great when you just can't use part of your package and it becomes not-such-a-great-deal.
Your suggestion makes a lot of sense.

This is a very good point, however, I had always just assumed that the hotel spa would be flexible in allowing one to choose a treatment the same price as the included massage, facial etc.
Whenever I have been given a spa gift certificate for a specific treatment, the spa has permitted me to put the $value towards any treatment....I thought other spas would do the same.

At an LL property, my husband refuses to use the spa. Therefore, the spa allows me to use his credit for me! I have called some properties and they only will offer the assigned spa service. It is always best to check with the property. I though do agree a spa credit would be much better. It takes away any type of confusion./

That said, I do like some of the past packages that recommend a special treatment from the location that is being offered. For example, I think there was a chocolate spa treatment in Montreal. That sounded wonderful and if the dates had worked I would have bid.
