The more research we did on Porto and the Douro Valley, the more we realized we need some 'on the ground' support. We were provided the following map which has proven to be helpful in planning visit to quintas of interest:

We have also located an extremely helpful guide to shepherd us through the Douro, since many of the quintas are remote from Luxury, Boutique Hotel, Douro, Golf, Oporto, Portugal - Casa da Calçada and driving may be best left to someone with more experience.

It will be grape harvest ('vindimas') time during our visit and we have been invited to take off our shoes, put on a pair of shorts and join in the traditional 'stomping' of the grapes...should make for some interesting photos.

Hey -O-, I'm a map guy - love my all of my GPS gadgets on my land and water vehicles. I don't where you found this map, but if I ever go to Porto, Portugal and want to find a place to drink wines, I will hold on to this one. I have just added the link to my travel folder for Europe.

omegaet, think you will have a wonderful time in Oporto. We spent a couple of days there several years back and found the city enchanting. We did some local port tastings, but did not venture into the Douro Valley.

Many locals told us how interesting visits to the quintas could be, but our schedule really did not permit us to do so.

We managed to catch The Yeatman for a short tour, drinks and sunset...got to say this property would be "star" in the Luxury Link Portugal collection..will post some photos and details when we return.

We visited the Yeatman while in Porto (actually a suburb of Porto inVila Nova da Gaia, located on the other side of the Douro River).

I'll blog about it later.

This would be a fabulous destination for a Luxury Link package.
