A Sweet Suite in Porto
We had suggested this innovative property earlier, in hopes of securing an auction package for our upcoming visit:

The Bacchus Suite would be a sweet suite for a couple of nights!Last edited by omegaet; 08-29-2012 at 10:32 AM.

08-29-2012, 06:48 AMNice looking hotel, but I can honestly say I have never considered a trip to Portugal. I know nothing about Porto.
So, -O-, even if LL were to secure this hotel, I doubt I would bid on it.

Wonderful property! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this property! When my wife and I visited Portugal two years ago, we immediately decided that it is one country we must return to! The castles and palaces in the Sintra area are worth the trip alone!
I've attached some pictures from our trip hoping to stir up some curiosity in those who haven't been. Portugal is a beautiful country with wonderful people and excellent value for money in regards to tourism.
Safe travels!

08-30-2012, 04:22 AMUnfortunately, I must admit, I have mostly thought of Portugal more as a holiday destination for Europeans, especially those from the UK escaping cold damp days and rainy nights.
Time to rethink possibilities for travel in Portugal.
Thanks for sharing your photos, danielboldea.

I might have to put an album together....that should convince you! It was a very windy, cool January week when we went....and we still thought it was amazing!
The country's infrastructure is very good for a road trip. While you are in the area you must visit:
Cabo da Roca - the western most tip of Europe (by car or bus from Lisbon)
Estoril - a beach getaway (about 30 minutes by train from Lisbon)
Belem - Jeronimo's Monastery; Torre de Belem (just on the outskirts of Lisbon)
Sintra - absolutely amazing - 4 or 5 castles/palaces in the same town, each with unique architecture.
Lisbon - has so much character. All sidewalks are cobblestone adding lots to the character of the city. It seemed like some of the best value for money that you can get in a European capital.
While in that area you can also drive to Seville, Spain; or to Gibraltar where you can set sail to Tanger, Morrocco and dine while sailing between two continents on the Straight of Gibraltar.
I will stop boring you...let me know if you would like to see more and I will dig up my external hard drive with some more pictures!
Safe travels!
