Traveladdict35,
Welcome to LL and the LL community!
You are doing absolutely nothing wrong. In the Mystery Auction threads, people will often make guesses for the location of the mystery auction. Sometimes they are right, sometimes not. Even if correct guesses are made, Katie (LL_Moderator_ks) will still post clues. She will not confirm the exact location (i.e. City & Country) until the end of the auction. LL does not reveal the exact property except to the winning bidder. It makes a fun game, whether bidding on the package or not, and you can get some awsome deals by bidding on mystery auctions.
What you might post is that you ckecked the clues given and they come back to Guanajuato, Mexico. Then others reading the post will know it matches the clues. Sometimes posters will also paste into their post the information they found that verifies the clue, or just post the link to it.
Since you are new to LL and the mystery auctions, I will give you 2 tidbits. Remember, the point of mystery auction (from a buyer's perspective) is to get the auction for a low price. I've never understood why a few people will bid up the mystery auction in large increments when there are still several days left in the auction. Just bid $1 to $10 early in the bidding. I have won an auction this way and never bid it up in large incremeants. Secondly, LL has a contest going for these auctions:
"NEW CONTEST! Turn a $1 starting bid into a $1 final price.
For a limited time only, ONE lucky Mystery Auction winner each month will be chosen to pay only $1 instead of the final bid price. "
Best of luck in your bidding!

01-16-2011, 04:38 PMthanks so much!!! I did not realize that correct answer was held to the end even if someone guessed it before then. I would love to win an auction and will follow your advice of bidding in low increments until the end.
thanks again!
