Re: South America Mystery Auction - 5/7/10
congrats!! I will be staying at the Miraflores OE LL package this next month. If I can assist with the LL Lima property (assuming that's one you want to add--should be a great deal!) when I return feel free to ask.
I had a set price in mind and I had to drop my bidding.
Yep--that 5 minute extension is maddening, isn't it?? Well done with your pricing, mmm--you saved several hundreds off the usual deal. Welcome to the manic world of auctions at LL!"wherever you go, there you are"

mmm2009...what city/cities other areas in Peru hold interest to you?
Don't know which city will be your departure point in the US, so don't know how you feel about taking a break when you arrive in Lima or whether you plan to connect and push on up to Cusco.
Maybe you are thinking about the Sacred Valley, the Amazonor possible the Colca Canyon. How active do you want to be? Walking around Lima looking as museums or dining at some top restaurants (the city probably has the best blend of fusion cuisine in South America).
How much time in Peru?- Ω -

Omegaet - we don't have a lot of time so we are looking at about 7-10 days (3 days/2 nightsin Cusco &3 days/2 nightsdays in MP already set). Not sure what city we are flying out of yet - is Lima a must see for a short trip? Or should we see some other cities instead?
I am interested in Sacred Valley, Amazon, and Colca Canyon - which do you recommend for a few days/or to skip if short on time?
We are thinking more of a nature/cultural trip with a few museums. We are active, but not looking to do full-day hikes or strenuous activities, but half day walks/moderate hikes, horseback riding, or city walkingis great.
Thanks so much for your thoughts

mmm2009, let me offer an unsolicited opinion. If you only have 7 to 10 days for a trip to Peru, then you might want to bypass or minimize your time in Lima. It is a large congested city and may not offer the experiences you are seeking. If you are looking for an active adventure, then maybe the Sacred Valley or Colca Canyon is worth exploring.

kapper - thank you for that advice because I was wondering if we should check out Lima too, but it looks like we will just fly in and fly straight out to Cuzco. Much appreciated!
