I've been watching this issue for a while. The problem is that the suggested "minimum bid" is $10-20 higher than the current bid (check out bid activity to see this). I started wondering if the "dollar auction" refers only to the fact that it starts with one dollar, and increments can be of any value set by LL or if there is a computer glitch. I wrote in to one of the administrators - will post back as soon as they respond.

Daniel--this is just a weird phenomenon with the mystery auctions. Some bidders choose not to use $1 increments. Seldom ever, do we encounter a "great scoop" since LL has become very popular. Some bidders don't understand that it's NOT proxy bidding, so they bid more than $1.

I've watched an auction run for almost 3 hours after the deadline, due to the 5 minute counter-bid rule, at $1 every bid. At that point, someone finally gets tired of the dollar, dollar, dollar...I don't blame them--if they want it, put their money where their bid is!

I don't get it, either--I see $502 was the last bid (at 12:23am EST) but the min bid required is $522. Curious!? Maybe LL can shed some light on this one.
