Guided Vacations and Tours

One area in which Luxury Link has greatly enhanced its portfolio in 2012 is guided vacations and tours...

Rest assured, these are not your cattle-call, 60-people-per-bus group tours, but rather exclusive, personally-tailored itineraries that provide real insight into your destination. In addition to Wine World Tours, which I just blogged about, others that really intrigue me are:
- Premium Destinations: Nine-night tour of Turkey (everyone seems to save about Istanbul)
- Israel Tour Connection: Nine-night tour (it's LL's first offering in the Holy Land)
- The Royal Scotsman: Two, three and four-night luxury train journeys (I toured the Scottish Highlands about 10 years ago, and my jaw was agape pretty much the entire time)

We also unveiled Excursionist add-ons to select vacation experiences around the globe, which are personal guided tours such as "In the Footsteps of Monarchy" in London or "Biking with a Sommelier" in Tuscany.

I noticed the wine tours and they look great but quite expensive. THe trip to Israel looking good. Will have to read more....

I also noticed the added tours. Some of them looked quite nice. However, bonniejoy is right, they are a little on the expensive side.

Thanks Ben. Will do. Had planned to go a few years ago for a Bat Mitzvah of our godchild. Missed the trip as we were in South America!! Which area do you like best in Israel? Did you visit Petra from there?

Hi bonniejoy03 - Personally, I love the vibrancy and cosmopolitan air of Tel Aviv...plus its beaches. Jerusalem has a completely different feel - a much more religious city, everything awash in white stone and historical/religious treasures at virtually every turn. The Old City will make you feel like you've stepped back in time, especially at night when it's rather quiet.

I visited Petra last year on a day trip from Eilat, at the southern tip of Israel on the Red Sea (pretty good SCUBA diving there). Petra is one of those must-visit places in the world, and Jordan has taken great care to preserve it. The complex is quite vast and only accessible by foot or horse/camelback; I'd actually recommend overnighting in the area and seeing Petra over two days, especially if you're there in the spring or summer. I don't think I need to tell you that the Jordanian desert is incredibly hot.....
