Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi L
I share your concern and frustration regarding communications with the LL Administrators/Editors. I too wrote an E-mail directly to one of the senior staff at LL about a week and a half ago and have not had a reply of any kind as yet. Granted, as you've pointed out, they are probably swamped by all the 'traffic' generated on the LL Community recently. yet, it'd be good to be able to have two-way communication so that important things like the date of the up-coming VIP Reception at the Pierre in NYC could be shared with us asap. Only in this way can we coordinate our travel plans accordingly and be available to attend the special event. let's hope we hear soon.

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi C,
You must have spent five fascinating years researching and writing your novel on the Oetzi man. I really look very much forward to reading it. I believe after Austria had done their research on the Oetzi man he was passed on to Italy for their research, but I am not quite sure where he is located now in Italy. I wagely remember the fellow who found him lost his life in a snowstorm in the mountains shortly afterwards and a couple of other people who came into contact with the Oetzi man found their death by some mysterious ways..... some saying he left a curse on those who touched him.... fascinating stuff.....

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi L
It was a marvelous time indeed. The research I did was mainly at night after work or on weekends. So too was most of the writing of the book itself, which took even longer, as an extremely busy work schedule and heavy workload did not allow me much time or energy on putting words to paper. In fact, it wasn't till I retired some years ago that I could devote enough time to complete the novel. Now I'm looking to get it published. Since finishing the book, I've not kept a close watch on what's been happening with Oetzi, but the last I heard his body was still being studied by scientists in Austria. Have heard of the King Tut's Tomb-type curse that's supposed to affect people who've come in close contact with the Iceman. Hope it isn't so.

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi C,
I think you are safe about the Oetzi man's curse, it's apparently affecting people who handled him, you only wrote about him... I think he was handed over to the Italians after having been studied by the Austrians.... Haven't seen much on the news about him in the last year...

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi L
Whew, that's a relief! And, you're right. There hasn't been much in the news lately about the Iceman from the international team of scientists still examining his remarkably well-preserved 5,000 year old remains in Austria. I fully expect that with new and revolutionary advances in technology as well as in our understanding of DNA that are very likely in the near future, the world will find out many more fascinating and revealing facts about the man who mysteriously ventured into the Italian Alps and eventually died on one of the highest mountains there. It'll then be very interesting to see how my fictional account of how this may have happened actually compares to what's eventually revealed.

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi C,
I'll bet you are relieved.... We are off skirting Oetzi country next week...
We leave Paris on the 27. April to the 22nd of May taking Air Berlin (1 Euro + tax for a roundtrip of 63.00Euros) to Nuernberg, Germany. After a few days visiting Nuernberg, we will start our 3 week biking trip along the Fuenf-Fluesse Weg to Regensburg, Passau where we catch the bike route along the Inn River to Kaprun and Innsbruck. From Insbruck we cross back over the mountains into Germany again to bike to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. If feasible, we might climb up the Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain and do some hiking around the Eibsee, before getting back on our bikes and heading back up North towards Nuernberg along the Altmuehltal. On the 22nd of Mai we will take Air Berlin back from Nuernberg to Paris. I will be reporting on our bike trip through Germany/Austria when we get back.....
Unfortunately, this entire trip will have no LL properties, since there is nothing on offer from LL. Germany and Austria could really use some nice LL properties. I found a nice 4* hotel in the heart of Nuernberg (the Duerer Hotel) directly under the 950 year old Burg on E-bay and I also used E-bay for hotels in Innsbruck and Garmisch-Partenkirchen at some excellent auction prices. As to the rest, long distance German bike routes are very well supplied by B&B's and small Gasthauses along the paths. Hopefully the weather will continue to be nice and summer like and it should be a fun trip.....

Re: NEW VIP Contributors Announced!
Hi L
On top of being relieved about the Oetzi curse, I'm also very envious of your fabulous-sounding biking/hiking adventure in Germany and Austria. Looks like you'll be skirting close to the Iceman's stomping grounds! In my novel Stone Ice, the intrepid wanderer leaves his home village located along the Inn River, not far west of present-day Innsbruck and heads up into the Alps on his quest to find better hunting grounds. I'll be looking forward to your highly interesting and informative posts about your own adventures, once you return to Paris. I agree with you that it'd be good for LL to offer luxury packages in Germany and Austria. Bon voyage and have a fantastic trip!
