WOW! That studio is very small, compared to some of the suites I've been in. The villas on NCL are as luxe but the crusie price includes meals--do I want to source my food and cook on baord a ship? NAH
I'll take a $800/nt luxury safari ANYTIME"wherever you go, there you are"

I saw this too and thought the price was a bit steep. Although, it got me thinking, if money was not a concern, could I live in one of these residences and circumnavigate the globe and my answer was a yes! The penthouse was to die for ;-)

With endless money, you can have residences in many places around the globe! Having one on a ship would have advantages - no property tax - you are on a ship and not really a resident of any one particular country, you could sit out on your balcony and be in different places all over the globe depending on the month, etc. Also the residences did look like they had kitchens so you could bring food aboard and cook your own if you wanted

A few years ago when I was at the Italian Riviera, The World was there too. It seemed quite clandestine, as if trying to fly under the radar, compared to other cruise ships. So I had to inquire about it. While I think the concept of The World is very cool, I too was surprised that the price for 1 week for a fairly small cabin was so high, not including food.
