New hotel option in Dubai -- stay aboard the QE2
Hello,
Following her retirement, and a doubtless luxurious refurbishment, the QE2 will become a floating hotel anchored off of The Palm. Here's some info from the Telegraph on the plans.
Personally I've always found the idea of staying aboard a retired cruise ship a bit odd (if I'm going to be staying in a room the size of a broom closet, I'd like it to at least be on an actual cruise) but doubtless this option will appeal to people who always wanted to sail the QE2 and never had a chance.
Cheers,
Julian

I agree Jashermd. I will probably go and visit it or probably have dinner in one of the restaurants, but as far as staying in it when it is a hotel, I doubt it very much. I see Atlantis Resort is nearing completionon the Palm. Now that is one resort I may consider staying at as we visited the one in the Bahamas a few times, although never actualy stayed there, but really was impressed with it. Being Dubai, I expect that onne will just have that little bit "edge" on the Bahamas one. Anyway, When the QE2 does finally open as a hotel, I will be sure to let you know more about it when we visit it, although we are not due to be back in Dubai again until August.Got our Maldives holiday to look forward to soon, so that should keep me happy until August............well, probably not!!!!!LOL

Hello Mary-J,
It would be great to hear what you think of the QE2 when she has been refurbished -- given that it's in Dubai I'm sure she will be as luxurious (if not more so) than in her heyday. Enjoy the Maldives!
Cheers,
Julian
