My husband and I are spending 5 days in Bali in April. We have never been there before and I am at a bit of a loss as to where to stay. I had originally assumed that the Four Seasons was the place but looking through LL there are lots of options. We are heading off to Wakatobifor diving and then a liveaboard dive boat after Bali, so we don't necessarily need to be by the water. I would love to hear some opinions and options.
Thanks,
Barb

Re: Bali
Especially because you will already be getting beach/water time on your dive trip, I highly suggest you stay in the interior of Bali in or near the town of UBUD. There are several great deals on LuxuryLink for properties in Ubud. The VICEROY isa new property and is not nearly as well known as the FourSeasons Sayan, but it is simliarly situated with goregous views over the river gorge. I just love the look of the infity pools there and, also at ROYAL PITA MAHA.

Re: Bali
If you have the extra time, take a look at Kupu Kupu Barong--cultural, relaxing (re:SPA) and culinary (cooking classes!!) in Ubud. The package is very well-priced for all the additional goodies many other resorts don't inlcude. Tell us more when you complete plans/trip.

I am currently looking at the Bali offerings myself for a return visit in August. I have to admit thatall of these properties are gorgeous so I don't think you can go far wrong with any of them.
It has been several years since we visited Bali but I recall a couple of things regarding getting local currency. ATM's worked fine but the maximum withdrawal per transaction worked out to be about $40 U.S. We chose to change some U.S. cash to avoid multiple service charges on the ATM. We found that theexchange rates varied by the denomination with the best rates offered for hundred dollar bills. Bills must not be ripped or have any writing on them or they will be rejected. I know this is off topic but I thought it might be useful to other travellers.
I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with this country so relax and enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the tips regarding money exchange. When you are planning a trip, so often the focus is on the large details that the smaller details are forgotten and those are the ones that make the trip more enjoyable. We decided to stay at the Viceroy Bali which I purchased on Luxury Link. We are really looking forward to the 4 days there and then we go on to Sulawesi for 18 days on diving.
Thanks again for the tips

Re: Bali
Please report back to us about your stay at the Viceroy in Bali. I don't think I have ever read any first hand comments about this hotel....but it looks lovely and I'm sure you'll have an amazing time.
