Getting Around in Asia
a member asked about traveling thru SE (in another thread) so I am answering here.
Air travel from major cities like Bangkok and Singapore are typically on one major carrier per country or the LCCs like Tiger Air etc.
I am quite surprised that some options of bus or train travel may be better than air, The LCCs have restrictios for bags, as in fees/wt, etc. Sometimes the best option is combo of taxi to
train/bus. It's not as far from Bangkok to Siem Reap--friends have taken a taxi and a bus as opposed to air now. Seat61.com has the BEST info on train travel in SE Asia. Make it one of your fave bookmarks!"wherever you go, there you are"

My wife and daughter took the bus/taxi combo from Bangkok to Siem Reap and it basically takes all day. It's best to leave Bangkok in the morning to avoid overnighting at the Thailand/Cambodia border since there's really nothing there.

How do you think it would be going from Laos to Cambodia or the reverse - if we do this package, I noticed that OE picks you up at train or airport but does not provide transpo between their 2 properties. If we do this, we would add another Asia package on - Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia - so many to choose from!
