Honeymoon in Asia
My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon for August 2008 and we are looking for suggestions on where to go and stay. We are planning to travel for approximately two weeks starting August 16th/17th. We'd like to go to either Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia or Singapore. We looking for something that would provide us with a mixture of beaches, nature (rainforests, mountains etc), culture and history. We also lovegood food and restaurants! Where do you recommend we go and are there any luxurylink combos that you recommend?
Thanks!

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
I highly recommend Vietnam - it has the combination of activities that you are looking for. We were there August 2007 and although it is hot it is certainly tolerable. Great cities, gorgeous beaches, you can do a bike tour through the Mekong Delta, you can do a cruise in gorgeous, romantic Halong Bay. Luxury Link has several properties available, for the ultimate honeymoon-worthy beach resort I highly recommend the Evason Hideaway in Nha Trang. It is the ultimate in luxury, beauty and service. I've done a few posts about my recent trip to Vietnam, there is more information in those and feel free to private message me for more information.
Oh, and the food was incredible!

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
Although you didn't include it in your list of possible choices, I also suggest visiting the Philippines. I was able to visit Boracay and met a lot of people there. I also went to Manila and stayed for a short while. Just pick a combo you think you would like. It wouldn't hurt to go for another round at a later date.
Cheers,
Matt

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
i recommend you to China for your honeymoon in August , because China is a country with very long history. Many cutural relics is worth looking such asTerracotta Warriorsand Horses in Xi'an . It was listed as the world heritage by the UNESCO about a decade ago.

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
I would recommend you Vietnam, which is a wonderful destination all year round. Thousands of pagodas, temples, and churches and unspoiled beaches can be found throughout the country. You can begin your itinerary in Hanoi which cuisine, art and architecture is strongly influenced by its French roots. Visit Halong Bay, which is about 100 miles away. Its amazing area of 3000 islands. This is a wild, beautiful and remote region. Midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh is the city of Hue, the former capital of the emperors of Vietnam, known for its beautiful imperial architecture. The Forbidden Purple City is the city within a city with its tombs, pagodas and lakes covered by lotus flowers. Near Hue is Da Nang, city of China Beach, the Marble Mountains and the Cham Museum, which houses magnificent examples of the art of the Indianised Cham civilization. Stop at Nha Trang, Vietnams most popular resort town. You can end you trip in Ho Chi Min City (former Saigon). Northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh is an interesting destination as it is the home of the Caodai religion. You can also visit Valley of the Love in romantic Dalat. There is so much to see sometimes within a short period of time, and if you don't know much about the destination and looking for the upscale trip, I suggest you to use the advice and help of the reliable tour operator. One that has a very good reputation is New York based Orient Flexi Pax: www.orientflexipax.com. I booked my trip to Vietnam through them. Excellent service. They will create and handle your vacation from its planning stages until your return. ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
Clearly, a majority of people here love Vietnam already --- you'll find that it's a nice little surprise!

Re: Honeymoon in Asia
I would say Bali. It is one of my favorite places in the world. You have the beaches, you have the culture, the arts, the flora and fauna. You can see the volcano, tour the monkey forest, see komodo dragons and of course just relax listening to the gamelan and feeling the ocean breeze. If money is not limited, I would even suggest staying several nights in either Sanur or Jimbaran (which is at the beach. Avoid Kuta-huge tourist area) and then stay several nights up in Ubud. You can arrange a biking day which is great for exploring the small villages or on the back of a mini bike. Also August is the middle of their winter so it is a little cooler and not much rain. Lastly, the rupiah has not seen the strengthening that other currencies have seen so there are a lot of great values there. Also you could spend a couple nights in Hong Kong either on the way there or afterwards. It is such a vibrant city.
I would avoid China this August with the Olympics going on.
