Honeymoon in late January 2009

I'm new to LL and am hoping I can get some help on this forum. My fiance and I are getting married in mid January and want to honeymoon in Asia. I'm looking for a nice beach destination that isn't TOO secluded (i.e. Maldives)- meaning there are cultural aspects that we would find interesting if we get bored laying out by the beach.



We were thinking of Bali, but just read that it is "wet season" there until March. Does anyone know if the weather is intolerable around that time?



What about Vietnam? Are there nice beaches there? We are looking for something quiet and authentic.



Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated! Also- has anyone had a difficult time booking LL hotels during their preferred dates?

I am heading to Bali in Oct. Our original plans were for the end of Jan next yr. I have been told that certain areas like Amed and Lovina do not have excessive rainfall during the wet season.
I think Bali and Vietnam may be more difficult to reach than say Thailand.

We went to Thailand last year and it is very accessible from the US--what's your gateway city? Our stay included Bangkok and Hua Hin.
