Re: Thai Airways
Glad to hear another good report from you Luxuryfan about Thai Airways. I am now really looking forward to the flight too. Yes, I am also looking forward to staying at the Banyan Tree in Phuket. We are booked to stay in one of the pool villas but I am so impressed with the Spa villas as they sound amazing. I would like to upgrade to one of those but they are quiteconsiderablymore expensive. Maybe ifI give them a big smile at check-in they may upgrade me for free!!! I can dream!!! We stayed at the Banyan Tree in Seychelles in June and if the one in Phuket is as nice as that one then I will be very happy. Hey, maybe if I keep telling them that I am a return guest to their properties then they may consider a freeupgrade? I read about people asking for upgrades when they check-in to hotels butI am quite shy, so never ever considered it before. Well, maybe this is the time to be a bit more adventurous and just ask. After all, the worst that can happen is that the say "no". Has anybody been fortunate enough to have been upgraded when they asked at check-in? If so, can you give me some tips/advice on the best way to go about it? Thanks.

mary-j, that sounds like a nice trip you are planning and it would really be nice to fly in the Royal Silk Class. I'm still locked into low cost airlines....no business class for me...if I go upstairs on my flights I would be outside on the roof. Hey, be sure to write something about how you enjoyed your flight and this trip when you return. Thanks.mary-j wrote:
We are flying to Thailand in April with Thai Airways and as we have never flown with them before,I wondered if anyone had flown with them recently who could tell me what they are like to fly with? We are booked in their Royal Silk Class which is their equivelant of "Business" class. Apparently our flight from Heathrow is on one of the aircraft which has an upstairsand the seats we have pre-booked are in that upstairs area. I have never been on an aircraft which has an upstairs in it so actually being in one of these seats is going to be a bit of a novelty. Would really like to get some feedbackfrom those who have flown with Thai. Thanks in advance.

Thai airways has great service, and food in all classes based on my experience.
Also, Thai airways now has an offshoot low-cost carrier, NOKAir. You should take a look if you're in Thailand. The airplanes noses are painted like a duck, you cant miss it
