I'm looking to spend time in Thailand exploring and then a few days relaxing on a beach. Anyone have suggestions for a fabulous beach in Koh Samui, etc. that would be a little more fun for two women traveling single. Most places seem geared towards couples...
I don't want crazy and wild, just not too romantic! And would love a nice place to dive, etc.

I've been to Bangkok and Hua Hin twice, Kwai RIver and Amphawa. Some of my family members just returned yesterday from long Thai trip. I went last year with my niece last spring, too.
Hua Hin is fun and there are plenty of things to do in the area-- some LL deals are superb. I haven't used the new pkgs offered but have seen some of the hotels.
Bangkok is a blast for 2 women! Shopping, temples (cover bare areas), cooking classes, river tours, etc.
I have a driver we use for getting to HH from Bangkok--or you can take the 4 hour train. Tip for HH--find out location of hotel/resort to town and if shuttle is available extended hours. Otherwise you hire tuk tuks to get you back and forth.
Use mass transit--both skytrain and metro in BKK--so easy!
There is River Kwai (famous WWII prison camp/bridge project) that is totally fascinating! You can stay on a river/barge hotel on the water--take the hellfire Pass railway and the museum is incredible. Beautiful moving cemetery there as well.
We also went to Amphawa for wkend markets--really a hoot! Stayed on the river, walked into town canal center--safe!
Can;t help w/diving--check tripadvisor. I have never been aware that places were geared to couples--hardly what I've seen. The upscale, once in a lfietime, honeymoon stuff, yeah, but Phuket is the party place--event ho there are several beaches with diff identities. I'v never been, but my family just went--liked it but preferred Kao Lak. Snorkling (prob diving, too)
