Banyan Tree. That's going to be our choice since we arrive after midnight and I have a GC to apply. We also liked Royal Orchid Sheraton--they have 3 for 2 special right now. We use Starwood points as avail.

10-02-2012, 05:07 AMI have three recommendations for drivers in Bali/Ubud:
1) Dean Cell 081 8344 807 you can contact him via Face Book " Dean Bali Dude "
2) Flexible Tour Service In Bali
3) Made Dodi Driver Bali – you choose, we drive! | Driver Bali, Travel Guide Bali, Tour Guide Bali
All three of those come highly suggested by people who know Bali and the scene there well. Any of them should work out great. Hope you all have a great time in the Island of the Gods!

Thanks Betsy! I have Made on my short list--loved his video. He has many recommendations--good to have yours.
Will check out the others asap. Is Dean Bali Dude the same as Dean, Drivers of Distinction? Time is drawing near, I'd better get booking!Last edited by kyshel; 10-02-2012 at 06:44 AM.

10-02-2012, 07:26 AMYes, I think Dean Bali Dude is same as Dean from Drivers of Distinction. I haven't used him but I used someone he referred me to. I hear that he is quite good and because of that tends to be booked up unless booked way in advance. I wasn't fortunate enough to plan ahead more than the 2 weeks I did and he wasn't available.

10-07-2012, 09:31 AMladies, are you all excited? I start doing my first suitcase packing this afternoon.....now, I will be flying to Indonesia from The Netherlands on the 18th, but I will be visiting some family members in Surabaya for a few days before heading back to Bali on the 22nd to get hitched

It might be early to pack but when we fly home to The Netherlands, I only have a little over a day to rest before heading to Gdansk, Poland for work (for 6 weeks) and being a control freak, I like to pack well in advance

Totally cranked up. We're in that mode of standby freakout. About 2 wks before I can see the available seats disappearing, so I start looking for alternatives. We have an option to fly to Singapore for a few days, then to DPS, instead of connecting in BKK. I love BKK, but have never been to SIN. My family had to route that way last spring and they liked SIN; it's just a bit $$.
I was hoping we could all meet at Tugu on the 30th for teatime--not sure when we will arrive on 29th.( our plan is midday, but that's standby, too! )
I don't envy your packing dilemma."wherever you go, there you are"

Kyshel,
If you make it to Singapore and have some time to kill, check out these places:
The Cookie Museum at the Esplanade
Singapore Botanic Gardens - Index Page - admission is free. The orchid garden is $5 but is a must see!
Singapore Flyer | A Moving Experience At Every Turn
Maybe catch a swim at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel?
We were in Singapore a few years ago and loved it!
