Still looking forward to some recent community traveler comments on Belize.

Denise, you are fortunate you were able to buy your deal when you did, I noticed that Luxury Link is no offering the Cotton Tree Lodge package. Looks remote and quite interesting.

I'm seeing mixed comments on the country in the news and in reviews posted in other on-line communities.

Actually not doing the Cotton Tree Lodge due to LL mistake.

Yes there does seem to be an increase in crime, etc. in Belize - I noticed it started around 2009 right after our economy tanked. Latin American countries depend so much on how the USA is doing.

Cotton Tree Lodge is back on my travel plans - all problems with the package have been worked out to my satisfaction! Thanks Luxury Link

I was worried for a bit - it was in my opinion a big mistake in the listing and it took a bit of wrangling with LL to get everything fixed so yes I am currently happy ;-)

Wow D.. That is fantastic. Do you attribute the change to working directly with the LL concierge service and allowing them to interface with the hotel? What tips would you provide to the community on how your problem was best resolved?

Hi BJ,
The mistake had nothing to do with the hotel. LL actually made the mistake in the listing and after I won the auction, I got a phone call from one of the concierges telling me some items in the listing were a mistake - I protested - it took a few phone calls and emails but finally LL worked with me to get what I was supposed to get - it was work with me or refund me what I paid for the package plus my VIP certificate. All my contacts with the hotel were great and we are paying a little more to have all our meals included - this way we probably will not have to worry about getting a car. I did notice the package is up for auction again but "not as good" as the one I won. This was the 1st time I had to work with a LL concierge and at 1st was not pleased but as I said it finally all worked out.

Headed over to Outdoor World to pick up some industrial strength bug repellant to use during the Belize trip starting tomorrow.

Even though the reservation coordinator at Ka'ana assures us the 'critter' population is greatly reduced during the 'dry' season (which is right now).....it's always good to be covered in a protective coating before venturing too far off the road the Central America.

Very early start for the drive to Tikal...caught a break with the weather (slight cloud layer, so not too warm) and the Mosquitos were not too hungry....impressive to say the least!
