Does anyone know the best way to travel from Guatemala City airport to Casa Palopo? There seem to be more than a few discouraging reports of travel gone wrong en route.
The Pan-Am highway is still under construction. Is there a suitable alternate route?
Helicopter is still the best choice!! Casa P could give you an idea of price. If not, the road is the only option. We came up from the beach area and it wasn't too bad.
showard1....we checked directly with the chopper service located in GUA (this is the company everyone uses).....their best price for a one-way flight from GUA to Casa Palopo was $750.....the chopper can hold 4 adults and 4 pieces of luggage. Initially, we had planned to travel to CP with another couple, in which case we were going to use the chopper.....when their plans changed and they couldn't go, we decided we could find a better use for the $750.
There is always the matter, although less of an issue during the dry season, of the weather.....meaning morning fog and afternoon rains can alter flight schedules.
If you do take the chopper, brace yourself for an "adventure" when approaching the landing pad at CP.
